Kategoria ewidencjalności wskazuje źródło informacji nadawcy przekazu. Tymi źródłami mogą być np.: bezpośrednia obserwacja, wnioskowanie czy twierdzenie innej osoby. Dodatkowo wykładniki tej kategorii mogą kodować wartości epistemiczne i/lub inne związane ze stosunkiem mówiącego do treści przekazu. W artykule przyjęta została szeroka definicja ewidencjalności – do jej wykładników zalicza się nie tylko morfemy ściśle gramatyczne, ale również środki składniowe czy wyrażenia leksykalne. Celem artykułu jest analiza wartości ewidencjalnych kodowanych przez niektóre czasowniki percepcji w języku polskim i ich formy nieosobowe, nie zawsze bowiem wskazują one na bezpośrednie źródło informacji. W końcowej części rozważane jest pytanie, czy omawiane formy nieosobowe mogłyby być uznane za wykładniki ewidencjalności we wczesnej fazie gramatykalizacji.

Evidentials indicate the information source on which the speaker’s claim is based; this source may be e.g. direct observation, inference, someone’s report or others. Additionally, evidentials may also encode epistemic and/or other meanings connected with the speaker’s attitude to the information content. The paper assumes a broad definition of evidentiality: its markers may be grammatical morphemes, but also syntactic means or lexical resources. The aim of the paper is to analyze the evidential values encoded by select perception verbs in Polish and their impersonal forms/predicatives, as it is often indirect evidence that is encoded by such forms. In the final part, the paper addresses the question of whether any of the forms discussed might be regarded as evidentiality in the early process of grammaticalization.
