The concept of human dialogue as human essence is presented by Michael H. Mitias, a contemporary American philosopher, in his book Human Dialogue (2023), within the framework of the project Towards a Universal Civilization. Analyzing the eternal problems of human life, such as understanding and cooperation, knowledge and conversation, reason and affection, truth and values, human nature and essence, and in general the prospects of humanity, Mitias defends the thesis that humanity, common to our entire human race not as an abstract concept, but as a basic quality, is essentially rational and inexorably dialogic. And conversation is our all-encompassing and all-pervading environment. Mitias’s thoughts, ideas, theses and my interpretation of them as well as inspirations driven from his work are the subject of the present essay.
