The Competitors’ Response to a Bankruptcy Filing Announcement Made by a Stock-Listed Company Depending on Sector Characteristics

The main aim of the article is to determine how the bankruptcy filing announcement of a stock listed company affects the market valuation of its competitors, depending on sector characteristics. An event study was conducted on the example of returns to shares of companies comprised in the WIG index and operating in 9 sectors. It is indicated that the bankruptcy filing announcement is quickly (within one day) incorporated into the share prices of competitors of the announcing firm. It is confirmed that the direction of market reaction toward share prices of competitors is differentiated by the characteristics of the sector. Averaged results show that the competitive effect occurs in the sectors with a high level of concentration, while the contagion effect is noted in sectors with low concentration. Companies from sectors characterized by low leverage experience the competitive effect. No information transfer was found for a group of companies in sectors characterized by high leverage.

Kościół nieustannie poszukuje nowych metod przekazywania treści wiary. Misyjny nakaz Jezusa nie ogranicza się tylko do podstawowym form, ale jest zaproszeniem do poszukiwania nowych dróg ewangelizacji, a także do kreatywnego wykorzystania pionierskich narzędzi. Nowoczesne formy i metody przekazu informacji dają róże możliwości. Wielu duszpasterzy i katechetów w kreatywny sposób – w ramach nowej ewangelizacji – próbuje je włączyć w dzieło rozkrzewiania wiary. Jedną z takich nowatorskich form jest portal YouTube, który poprzez darmowy dostęp do materiałów audio-wideo zachęca odbiorców do przyjęcia konkretnych informacji. Łatwość w dodawaniu własnych filmów sprawia, że coraz częściej ewangelizatorzy wybierają właśnie to miejsce, aby docierać z Dobrą Nowiną do jak największej liczby odbiorców. Nie każda jednak treść w tej wirtualnej przestrzeni jest dobra i wartościowa. Wiele z umieszczanych filmów, jak wynika z analizy portalu YouTube, jest słabej jakości, przekłamuje, wprowadza zamęt. Niniejsze opracowanie przedstawia wybrane treści ewangelizacyjne, które można odnaleźć na popularnym portalu YouTube.

The Church is constantly searching new methods of communicating the faith. Jesus’ missionary mandate is not limited to basic forms but is an invitation to seek new ways of evangelization and use these tools creatively. Modern forms and methods of information transfer various possibilities. As part of the new evangelization a great number of pastors and catechists try to include them in the work of spreading faith in a creative way. One of such innovative forms is YouTube, which encourages recipients to assume specific information through free access to audio-video materials. The ease of adding own videos means that evangelizers more and more often choose this website to reach the largest possible audience with the Good News. However, not all content in this virtual space is good and valuable. According to the analysis of YouTube many of the videos posted are of poor quality, distorting and causing general confusion. This study presents selected evangelistic content that can be found on the popular YouTube website.

One of the main conditions for the effectiveness of each conscious and purposeful action, especially long-term and complex one, is the ability of programming. Whoever takes into consideration catechetical programming decides for a certain process requiring consideration and organisation of actions with reference to particular people and situations. In contemporary catechetical programming, an important premise is the revalorisation of diagnostic elaborations prepared with the participation of specialists in human arts and theology. Reliable assessment of reality leads to the indication of key issues with which the contemporarily catechised deal in Church and in the world. To solve them, detailed programmes which indicate the most vital decisions concerning means, methods and time of activity are necessary. The effectiveness of catechetical programming considerably depends on the ability to work as a team. Therefore, catechetical programming requires commitment of various groups and units, both educational and church ones. Participation and joint responsibility in Church do not only arise from good organisation indications. Most of all, they are the expression of the existence and activity of Church as a community.

Analizie poddane są sposoby podejścia do tabuizowanych lub wypartych aspektów przeszłości jako podstawy do rekonstrukcji historii rodziny. Omówione zostały trudności i możliwości radzenia sobie z przeszłością. Korpus literacki składa się z sześciu powieści pokoleniowych reprezentujących współczesną literaturę niemiecką: Eine sehr kleine Frau (2007) Petera Henischa, Engel des Vergessens (2011) Maji Haderlap, Das Foto (2016) Elvy Schevemann, Haus der Kindheit (2000) Anny Mitgutsch, Pawels Briefe. Eine Familiengeschichte (1999) Moniki Maron i Kleine Zeiten. Die Geschichte meiner Großmutter (2012) Fritza Dittlbachera. Powieści te prezentują typowe dla gatunku spojrzenie na przeszłość, co oznacza, że wpływ przeszłości na teraźniejszość lub możliwości dostępu do przeszłości są centralnym tematem analizowanych tekstów.

The article first takes a look at one of the distinctive tendencies of contemporary German-language literature, the format of the generational novel, and asks about its special characteristics caused by the problem of memory. Following on from this, possible approaches to forgotten or repressed aspects of the past as a basis for a reconstruction of the family history are examined. Difficulties and possibilities individuals have in dealing with the past are explored. The literary corpus is made up of six generational novels of contemporary German literature: Eine sehr kleine Frau (2007) by Peter Henisch, Engel des Vergessens (2011) by Maja Haderlap, Das Foto (2016) by Elva Schevemann, Haus der Kindheit (2000) by Anna Mitgutsch, Pawels Briefe. Eine Familiengeschichte (1999) by Monika Maron and Kleine Zeiten. Die Geschichte meiner Großmutter (2012) by Fritz Dittlbacher. The novels develop perspectives on the past that are typical of generational novels, whereby the effect of the past on the present and the possibilities of access to the past are central in these literary texts.

Der Beitrag nimmt zunächst eine der markanten Tendenzen der deutschsprachigen Gegenwartsliteratur, das Format des Generationenromans, in den Blick und fragt nach seinen durch die Erinnerungsproblematik bedingten besonderen Prägungen. Daran anknüpfend werden mögliche Zugänge zu tabuisierten bzw. verdrängten Aspekten der Vergangenheit als Grundlage für eine Rekonstruktion der Familiengeschichte untersucht. Es wird erarbeitet, welche Schwierigkeiten und Möglichkeiten die Individuen im Umgang mit der Vergangenheit haben. Das literarische Korpus bilden sechs Generationenromane der deutschsprachigen Gegenwartsliteratur: Eine sehr kleine Frau (2007) von Peter Henisch, Engel des Vergessens (2011) von Maja Haderlap, Das Foto (2016) von Elva Schevemann, Haus der Kindheit (2000) von Anna Mitgutsch, Pawels Briefe. Eine Familiengeschichte (1999) von Monika Maron und Kleine Zeiten. Die Geschichte meiner Großmutter (2012) von Fritz Dittlbacher. Die Romane entwickeln für Generationenromane typische Vergangenheitsperspektiven, womit die Wirkung der Vergangenheit auf die Gegenwart bzw. die Zugangsmöglichkeiten zur Vergangenheit in diesen literarischen Texten zentral sind.
