The paper presents roles of information and communication technologies in innovation processes in services. Research method has been a case study due to the lack of empirical studies of innovation processes in Serbia. The paper analyses four original service innovation projects which have been conducted in Serbia based on ICT enhanced innovations. The main findings affirm that ICT progress per se enables new ways of gathering, processing, keeping and transferring information in services and also in that way enables base and impulse for innovations. Beside this, new findings also show that ICT have considerable role in the very process of innovation, from an idea, development and testing to commercialization. The paper points out key ICT methods and tools which can be used in different stages of innovation process.

Innovative products and services are essential to ensure a long-term viability of a company. More and more often they are created and implemented through innovative projects. The aim of the article is to show the uniqueness of innovative projects, present the risk that is specific to this kind of projects and indicate the methods with which these projects should be managed. The article analyses the features of innovations, presents the definition of an innovative project and discusses its classification and management principles. Moreover, it presents seven areas of risks specific to an innovative project, developed on the basis of articles published in “Project Management Journal” in the years 2005-2016 and other selected publications.

Innowacyjne produkty oraz usługi mają zasadnicze znaczenie dla zapewnienia długoterminowej rentowności firmy. Coraz częściej są one tworzone i wdrażane poprzez projekty innowacyjne. Celem artykułu jest pokazanie unikatowości projektów innowacyjnych, przedstawienie ryzyka charakterystycznego dla tego typu projektów oraz wskazanie metod jakimi te projekty powinny być zarządzane. W artykule przeanalizowano cechy innowacji, przedstawiono definicję projektu innowacyjnego oraz omówiono jego klasyfikację i zasady zarządzania. Ponadto, przedstawiono siedem obszarów ryzyka, charakterystycznych dla projektu innowacyjnego, opracowanych na podstawie artykułów opublikowanych w „Project Management Journal” w latach 2005-2016 oraz innych wybranych publikacji.
