The purpose of this article is to analyse the concept of law as the instrument employed to achieve some specifi c purposes. The analysis leads to the distinction between the instrumental character of law and its instrumentalization (acts of instrumentalization). Considering the character of the acts of instrumentalization of law, it is maintained that there are some limits of such acts, and one of them is the autonomy of law understood as a function of legal culture.
