This paper is meant to discuss two diverse but mutually entailed goals, underpinning the analysis of media business discourse. On the one hand, it promotes a critical understanding of how gender marks discourse and encodes power in business discursive communities, thus playing a key role in “shaping the expectations about people’s behaviours” (Koller 2004: 178). On the other, it promotes an interdisciplinary approach so as to disambiguate the discursive and argumentative strategies in the construction of media content by focusing on the symbolic organization and interaction between citizens and the discursive communities, in terms of male/female representations, given the way they throw global challenges and/or replicate stereotypes and particular ways of perceiving (Carter 1994: 5) the business discourse in terms of enunciation. The contrastive analysis of a corpus of magazine texts, covering news in April and May 2011, with a large readership in the global scenario, in Portuguese and in English (Sábado, Visão, Time and Newsweek), uncovers the power imbalance created when media texts pass on stereotypical patterns of behaviour in business and everyday discursive communities.

The article is focused on application psychological intercultural approach based on cross – cultural challenges. In the paper the theory, procedures were presented and what is most interested one example of real organisation which can be called “intercultural competence excellence”. In the first part of the paper, the report and “working’ definition of intercultural competencies are described and intercultural approach based on Bennet, Deardorff and Heyward were presented. Having a framework of intercultural competence such as these presented and discussed above, the criteria of ICC was presented. They was used to described the CICA as an organisation. The real example can be helpful in ensuring a more comprehensive, integrated approach in everyday work and life and promoting a better cross-cultural dialogue.

The article focuses on the presentation of the assumptions of an intercultural approach based on the example of the CICA conference. The presented text reviews the subject literature – intercultural skills – their assumptions, procedures and meanings. Practical examples of using this approach are also given. The first part of the article describes the report and the working definition of intercultural competences and presents an intercultural approach based on the works of Bennet, Deardorff and Heyward. Based on the illustrated intercultural competence framework, the criteria for intercultural competences (ICC) are set out, which must be met when creating an environment that supports their development. Examples and clear criteria may be helpful in the creation of further social events, conferences or trainings, because only the real application of the ICC assumptions supports intercultural dialogue.

This paper investigates an attempt to apply a corpus analysis to the development of the intercultural approach to foreign language teaching through the semantic analysis of cultural keywords. Our analysis will specifically include the process of discovering the meaning of the three words: French politesse and its Polish equivalents - grzeczność and uprzejmość through their collocations collected in French and Polish corpora. As a result, firstly, we came up with a conclusion that the French word politesse is characterized by more positive semantic prosody than its Polish equivalents. Secondly, politesse appears more frequently in coordinate collocations with nouns conveying aesthetical meaning, whereas the Polish word uprzejmość is more frequently used with nouns designating ethical features. The principles of our methodology or some data used in our research can inspire the introduction of an inductive lexical approach in foreign language teaching to facilitate the conceptualization of complex cultural notions, which is the essential of the intercultural teaching.

The paper proposes a comparative intercultural approach to the climate change. The author bases on the cases of Chinese Daoism and Norbert Bolz’s philosophy to present his personal general viewpoint. The today greatest challenge is the recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic by getting rid of the financial burden and by introducing individual economical solutions to each country as well as accepting international conventions on the reduction of climate change results. According to the author of the article, the increasing consequences of the climate change liven up international business and indifferent politicians to make positive decisions concerning it.

The article is devoted to the content analysis of peculiarities of Master’s professional foreign language training in Translation Studies and Interpretation at the universities of Slovakia. In the context of globalization and integration processes the study of European countries’ experience, in particular, of the Slovak Republic has been actualized. The possibility of implementing progressive ideas of Slovak experience in university level foreign language training of specialists in humanities has been pointed out. The structure and content of the Master’s curricula in Translation Studies and Interpretation have been analyzed. The communicative and intercultural approaches have been defined as the principle approaches of training. It has been noted that university level foreign language training of future specialists in humanities contributes to the forming of students’ linguistic and socio-cultural knowledge. It has been indicated that students acquire conceptual knowledge of the problem on the coexistence of different cultures in socio-cultural space. The general positive characteristics of Master’s professional foreign language training have been defined.
