The action of Norwid's poem Quidam takes place in Rome in Emperor Hadrian's times. The topographic realia of the city, however, do not occupy much space in the text of the work. There are no descriptions of monumental elegant edifices, temples, town squares, or indeed of the way the Roman street looked like. The houses, in which the protagonists' life goes on, are the only exception in this respect; the author made them the background for the events taking place in the poem. The article is an attempt at reconstructing the actual look of Roman houses, in which a lot of scenes that are key ones in the course of the action of the poem take place: of the villas belonging to Artemidor and to Jason Mag, of Sophia's house and of Alexander's son's tenement flat. On the basis of analysis of fragments of Norwid's text that made for these reconstructions, also the specificity was determined of the descriptions of living interiors that consist of a fragmentary character and chariness of the description, privacy and subjective treatment of the scenes, and most of all of emphasizing the function of light in constructing the image of the presented world. In Quidam the author presents an exceptional abundance of observations about light, and the meaning of the motif of light and shadow in the poem exceeds the composition significance discussed in the article and heads for evaluating-symbolic functions. The choice and arrangement of elements that make up the poetic images of interiors in the poem is conditioned, on the one hand by the narration strategy accepted by the author, where the perspective of narrator-witness dominates, and on the other by the specificity of a two-pole relation: man - interior. Both issues are given independent paragraphs in the article, an to conclude the considerations of living spaces attention is paid to the feature that is a peculiar distinctive one for the way the world is presented on the pages of Quidam. What is meant here is a clear turn to the peripheral sphere, additionally reinforced by raising the rank of the role that the fragment plays, which makes Norwid's poem appear to the reader as marked with the mystery of the interior, the person, the city.

The question I would like to ask in this aritcle is: what is the source of human behaviour in everyday life? The question belongs to the field of philosophical anthropology and can be formulated also as following: what it the subject of human behaviour? The answer to this question seems to be obvious. Who if not the individual himself could be an animator of the things he does? Especially when we think of his everyday activities. In what other contexts, if not in the private sphere, human behavior would seem more dependent on the man himself? Setting up this question I tried to refute these obvious. I try to demonstrate that the source of human behavior has nothing to do with so called individual human will. I try to show that the meanings attach to human actions do not depend on an individal, even if it they take place "in the privacy of somebody's home”. I will try to prove it using Ludwig Wittgenstein's remarks concerning the voluntary and involuntary movements and Goffman's remark on human condition as an actor.

Poddano badaniu relację architektury i światła we wnętrzu kościoła górnego bazyliki w aspekcie jej rezultatu – eksponowania właściwości fizycznych architektury i astrofizycznej natury światła słonecznego. Analiza potwierdziła ścisły związek światła i atmosfery w kościele w Collevalenzy.

The article presents the relationship between sunlight and the atmosphere of architecture in the basilica of Merciful Love in Collevalenza in Umbria. It outlines the history of the Sanctuary and its basilica, erected in 1963-1967, designed by Julio Garcia Lafuenty at the request of Sister Madre Speranza, founder of the Opus of Merciful Love and the complex associated with the discovery of sources with healing properties. It was noted that the architect based his project on the idea of sunlight: carefully thought ways of its introduction to specific parts of interior. The method of research was based on the analysis of the project, texts about the Sanctuary and of the personal perceptive experience of the author of this article. The term of atmosphere of architecture used in the research, has been clarified. The relation between architecture and light in the interior of the church of the upper basilica was examined in the aspect of its result: the exposure of the physical properties of architecture and the astrophysical nature of sunlight. The analysis confirmed the close dependence between the light and atmosphere in the church in Collevalenza. In the conclusions, it was noted that sunlight can be a formcreating factor of architecture, related not only to its materials, but also to the shape, structure, space. It is an effective way to achieve the sacred atmosphere in this church. Recognition of the architectural methods of operating with sunlight within an interior increases the chance to create with the expected atmosphere of interior using sunlight.
