In the teaching of Pope John Paul II media can became an excellent platform for the promotion of mercy worldwide. Due to their vocation journalists are obligated to guard the truth, freedom and love. On the basis of those values mercy can be promoted. For that reason the Church – instead of feeling offended by mass media – should free herself from her own laicization and should become open again to God and the world. Only genuine witness convinces people and mass media.
