The 100th anniversary of the nomination of Cardinal Giuseppe Sarto as Pius X in the Holy See falls in early August 2003. The conclave that elected him went down in history:  it was the last papal conclave that saw the use of veto. It was voiced by the Krakow bishop Jan Puzyna on behalf of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary Joseph I.

W czasie jego trwania po raz ostatni w dziejach papiestwa zastosowano weto. W imieniu cesarza Austro-Węgier Franciszka Józefa I zgłosił je biskup krakowski kardynał Jan Puzyna.
