The article is an analysis of the way in which six-year-old children function in the current school practice. On the basis of the literature in the field as well as her own research, the author analyzes the situation of a six-year-old child starting his/her school education. The author draws attention to the development of both preschool and early school education, giving practical tips with a view to a smooth introduction of the six-year-olds to school education.
