Dyslexia is a well-known disorder, which is often misunderstood or underestimated. Disputes of opinion concern the whole society as well as researchers who present their own definitions of specific reading and writing difficulties, pointing to different pathomechanisms and symptomatologies. This article presents the results of analyses of psychological and pedagogical documentation: statistical data concerning the number of children with dyslexia, dysorthography, dysgraphy, dyscalculia on the example of students from a selected school in Cracow. Conclusions from the research turn out to be surprising both in terms of the number of students with disorders in relation to the averaged percentage ranges adopted in the literature, as well as the correlation between gender and dyslexia, which generally recognises boys as much more often affected by the aforementioned difficulties.

Dysleksja jest powszechnie znanym zaburzeniem, które bywa jednak często błędnie rozumiane lub bagatelizowane. Spory poglądowe dotyczą całego społeczeństwa, jak i badaczy, którzy przedstawiają własne definicje specyficznych trudności w czytaniu i pisaniu, wskazując na różne patomechanizmy i symptomatologie. Niniejszy artykuł prezentuje wyniki analiz dokumentacji psychologiczno-pedagogicznych: dane statystyczne dotyczące liczby dzieci z dysleksją, dysortografią, dysgrafią, dyskalkulią na przykładzie uczniów wybranej krakowskiej szkoły. Wnioski z badań okazują się zaskakujące zarówno w kwestii liczebności uczniów z zaburzeniami względem przyjętych w literaturze uśrednionych przedziałów procentowych, jak i korelacji płci z dysleksją, powszechnie uznaje się chłopców, za znacznie częściej dotkniętych wspomnianymi trudnościami.
