The article deals with place names referring to surface features in the objects of the Solar System. After some introductory remarks on the terminology related to the planetary nomenclature and its nature, the article provides a list of the official names of surface features connected with the history of Czech science and Czech history. The surface features are mostly named after people and the largest part of them contains the names of scientists. In addition, the names after several Czech composers and writers are attested and several surface features bear the names of creatures from Slavic mythology. A small part of the names is based on the toponyms referring to the places located in the territory of the Czech Republic. The article also presents some factual, formal and logical inconsistencies of the nomenclature of surface features.
