Il presente contributo affronta il tema degli studi fatti su Don Bosco. Nell’articolo l’autore prende ugualmente in considerazione sia gli studi fatti nel mondo salesiano, sia i contributi che non appartengono al mondo salesiano in senso stretto. L’obiettivo principale era quello di analizzare i vari periodi in cui diversi autori hanno dato un contributo valido nell’approfondimento della figura di Don Bosco lungo la sua storia. Grazie all’edizione delle fonti ed alle pubblicazioni dei numerosi studi, la tradizionale immagine di Don Bosco non e’ piu’ l’unica. Accanto ad essa cresce gradualmente un’immagine piu’ ricca, piu’ differenziata e maggiormente in conformita’ con la realta’ storica del suo tempo. La rinnovata immagine di Don Bosco risulta piu’ suggestiva. L’uso di dati storici piu’ affidabili ha permesso di avere una piu’ nitida visione sia delle situazioni religiose ecclesiali, sia quelle sociali ed educative, in cui era necessario ricollocare Don Bosco. Grazie alle considerazioni fatte Don Bosco appare come uno che nella sua cura e agire ha saputo relazionarsi con le situazioni concrete del proprio tempo. In quel clima egli ha elaborato un orientamento pedagogico e spirituale che anche per il futuro potra’ essere una luce e forza sia all’interno che all’esterno del mondo salesiano.

Many saints have left behind journals of the soul, autobiographies or spiritual notes. The authors of this kind of writings can also be found among the Salesian Family, e.g.: blessed. Rev. B. Markiewicz, blessed A. da Costa, blessed Rev. J. Kowalski, blessed A. Marvelli and Rev. S. Mannucci. The Notebook…, authored by a Salesian missionary in China, Rev. Wieczorek, is an interesting example of such spiritual writings. This article is the first part of the study of the manuscript. It undertakes two topics: presentation of the author’s biography (family environment, stages of formation) and presentation of the text (physical description, authorship, chronology, purpose and method of record keeping, internal structure, the history of the manuscript, subsequent editions and commentaries).

This article is an analysis of the research conducted by the late Prof. Józef Wilk SDB into the preventive system created by St. Don Bosco. Since he was a Salesian with an educational background in pastoral work and pedagogy, Fr. Wilk analyzed the preventive system in the context of these three areas. Hence, for Fr. Wilk, the preventive system was above all a Salesian heritage. For him, educational love constituted the essence of the preventive system and he considered remaining faithful to the youth as the actualization of the preventive system. He also regarded Salesian youth spirituality as a general proposal emanating from the preventive system.
