The aim of this article is to provide the reader with very specific customs in national cuisines, especially Afghan and Iranian. The food is an essential part of the Muslim culture. As novels from exotic environments have appeared on our book market, it is necessary to think of possible translatological solutions of so-called culture-motivated expressions. We have chosen two novels for our analysis. Both novels are originally written in English and set in the Muslim countries

Celem artykułu było przedstawienie czytelnikowi określonych zwyczajów w kuchniach narodowych, zwłaszcza afgańskich i irańskich. Jedzenie jest istotną częścią kultury muzułmańskiej. Ponieważ na współczesnym rynku wydawniczym pojawiło się dużo książek opisujących egzotyczny świat dla szeroko pojętego Zachodu, należy pomyśleć o możliwych rozwiązaniach translatologicznych tzw. wyrażeń motywowanych kulturą. Do analizy w niniejszym opracowaniu wybrano dwie powieści. Obie zostały napisane w języku angielskim, lecz ich akcja rozgrywa się w krajach muzułmańskich

The Gazi Husrev-beyLibrary, one of the most important research and cultural institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, belongs to the most important Muslim libraries in Europe. The Sarajevo institution has operated uninterruptedly for over 480 years. Renewed and extended after the Balkan war, now it serves as both a library and a museum.

The article describes the cultural context of social and economic development in the European Union. It presents the cultural mosaic of Europe, attitudes and organizational behavior. Examples of international teams operating at all levels of the organization show that diversity is a stimulator of development. Cultural dilemmas can be a barrier to cooperation. Knowledge of partners and cultural sensitivity is useful in every aspect of cross-border cooperation.

W artykule zarysowano kulturowy kontekst rozwoju społecznego i gospodarczego w Unii Europejskiej. Przedstawiono kulturową mozaikę Europy, postawy i zachowania organizacyjne. Przykłady międzynarodowych zespołów funkcjonujących na wszystkich szczeblach organizacji dowodzą, że różnorodność jest stymulatorem rozwoju, umożliwiającym powstawanie innowacji technicznych i społecznych. Dylematy kulturowe mogą być też barierą utrudniającą współdziałanie. Wiedza o partnerach i wrażliwość kulturowa są przydatne w każdym wymiarze transgranicznej współpracy.
