This article presents Ph.D. thesis Popular Culture in Teaching Polish as a Foreign Language, written under the supervision of prof. Roch Sulima. In my dissertation I show how the theories formed by contemporary cultural studies shape the realm of Polish as a foreign language acquisition, and create new conditions for participants of the didactic process. Popular culture becomes intermediary, very convenient in transmitting and explaining Polish identity.
