The aim of the paper was to analyze the selected forms of supportdedicated to working family careers of the elderly in terms of their usefulness in reconciling work and car­ing responsibilities. Greater flexibility in working time, the opportunity to take leave for care or access to home care services, greatly increase the chances of long-term caregiver to remain in the labor market. The use of these forms of support in Poland is not very broad. It might be caused by the lack of careers’ rights in employment, difficult situation on the labour market and poor working conditions and wages, as well as restrictions on access to formal long-term care and an underdeveloped system of highquality and affordable care.

Celem artykułu jest analiza wybranych form wsparcia pracującego opiekuna osoby starszej pod kątem ich przydatności w godzeniu pracy z obowiązkami opiekuńczymi. Uelastycznianie czasu pracy, możliwość skorzystania z urlopu na opiekę czy dostęp do usług domowej opieki długoterminowej wydatnie zwiększa szanse opiekuna na pozostanie na rynku pracy. Stopień wykorzystania tych form wsparcia w Polsce jest niewielki. Wynikać to może z braku przywilejów dla pracowników-opiekunów, trudnej sytuacji na rynku pracy i słabych warunków pracy i płacy, a także z ograniczeń w dostępie do formalnej opieki długoterminowej i nierozwiniętego systemu dobrych jakościowo i niedrogich usług opiekuńczych.
