The note discusses words such as owocowo-warzywny ('fruits and vegetable '), warzywno-owocowy ('vegetable and fruit'), naukowo-badawczy ('science-research') etc. which are very frequent in source text on which lexicographers base their general dictionaries of Polish. The author examines the theoretical status of these expressions in selected Polish language dictionaries (with special reference to Słownik wileński and Słownik warszawski).
