Stereotypes are widespread in social life. Even though more and more people seem not to succumb them, it is still difficult to get rid of them completely. Gender-related stereotypes are similar in this respect. Women as the prisoners of conventions need to constantly prove that they are able to manage the roles other than the ones enforced by the society, for instance the stereotype of a woman as wife, mother, housewife or worse worker. In the article, the author raised the issues of the development of female life ethos with respect to currently existing social conditions and stereotypes. The ethical analysis was based, among others, on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Stereotypy są szeroko rozpowszechnione w życiu społecznym. I choć mogłoby się wydawać, że coraz częściej ludziom udaje się im nie ulegać, to jednak ciężko jest się ich całkowicie wyzbyć. Podobnie jest ze stereotypami związanymi z płcią. Kobieta jako więzień konwencji musi udowadniać, że potrafi się sprawdzić także w innych rolach niż te, na które nacisk wywiera społeczeństwo (np. stereotyp kobiety jako żony, matki, gospodyni domowej czy gorszego pracownika). W artykule zostało podjęte zagadnienie kształtowania etosu życiowego kobiety wobec współczesnych, silnie istniejących w społeczeństwie uwarunkowań i stereotypów. Analiza etyczna została oparta między innymi na Powszechnej Deklaracji Praw Człowieka.
