Changes in terminology included in the largest classification systems and the latest results of research on the linguistic functioning of people with DLD (SLI) and ASD indicate the need to revise the differential speech therapy diagnosis and terminology used to describe these disorders. The presented article presents both historical views on SLI and autism, as well as contemporary approaches and new terms (DLD and ASD). It was also indicated what changes have occurred in the way these disorders are defined in recent years.

Zmiany w terminologii ujęte w największych systemach klasyfikacyjnych oraz najnowsze wyniki badań dotyczących językowego funkcjonowania osób z DLD (SLI) oraz ASD wskazują na konieczność rewizji logopedycznej diagnozy różnicowej oraz terminologii używanej do opisu tych zaburzeń. W prezentowanym artykule przedstawiono zarówno historyczne spojrzenia na SLI i autyzm, jak i współczesne ujęcia oraz nowe terminy (DLD i ASD). Wskazano również, jakie zmiany zaistniały w sposobie definiowania tych zaburzeń w ostatnich latach.
