The author claims that Tucker’s “Legacies of Totalitarianism” is extremely important for the studies of post-communism in Central and Eastern Europe as well as for philosophy of history, which – from the post-Hegelian times on – has avoided holistic approaches. According to the author, Tucker adequately identifiestransnational components of the region’s current identity, rooted in the abovementioned “legacies” (middle-range processes that started in the communist era). The author also notes that inadequacy of some prognoses that Tucker puts forward based on his own theory stems from his negligence of the prognostic weight of certain socio-psychological laws and long-term processes.

Autor stwierdza, że praca TuckeramThe Legacies of Totalitarnianism jest niezmiernie ważna dla studiów nad postkomunizmem w Europie Środkowej i Wschodniej oraz dla historiozofii, która od czasów poheglowskich stroniła od holizmu. Zdaniem autora, Tucker trafnie identyfikuje ponadnarodowe składowe wspólnej tożsamości regionu, wynikające z tytułowych „dziedzictw” (procesów średnioterminowych wywodzących się z komunizmu). Badacz zauważa jednak, że nietrafność części prognoz Tuckera na podstawie jego własnej teorii wynika z nieuwzględnienia pewnych prawideł socjopsychologicznych i procesów długoterminowych.

This occasional text was prepared to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the journal Ruch Prawniczy, Ekonomiczny i Socjologiczny (RPEiS). In the modern, highly turbulent world – a world of growing uncertainty concerning the future directions of changes, where Taleb’s black swan syndrome seems to be intensifying – achieving long duration can be considered as a success in itself. With regard to RPEiS, there are many indications that the source of the journal’s long-term success is its interdisciplinary nature, as well as the high substantive quality and holistic nature of the texts published. They have all the following qualities: scientific and research focused, popularizing, educational, and expert-consultative. This creates a favourable basis for the development of a relatively new research trend, namely the economic analysis of law. This is all the more important as this area of scientific research is still rather underestimated in Poland.

Tekst ma charakter okolicznościowy. Został przygotowany z okazji 100-lecia powstania czasopisma „Ruch Prawniczy, Ekonomiczny i Socjologiczny” (RPEiS). We współczesnym, wysoce turbulentnym świecie, świecie narastającej niepewności co do przyszłych kierunków przemian, w świecie nasilającego się Talebowskiego syndromu czarnego łabędzia, długie trwanie można uznać za sukces sam w sobie. Wiele wskazuje, że źródłem tego sukcesu jest interdyscyplinarny charakter RPEiS i wysoka merytoryczna jakość oraz holizm publikowanych w tym czasopiśmie tekstów. Mają one wymiar naukowo-badawczy, popularyzatorski, edukacyjny i ekspercko-konsultacyjny. Tworzy to korzystne podłoże dla rozwoju relatywnie nowego nurtu badawczego, jakim jest ekonomiczna analiza prawa. Jest to istotne tym bardziej, że ten obszar dociekań naukowo-badawczych nie doczekał się jeszcze należytego miejsca w polskiej rzeczywistości.
