This text is a report on a survey conducted on a group of students of the Faculty of Law and Administration of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan in December 2022. The authors wanted to obtain answers to questions concerning attitudes towards the law and political views of students of the Faculty of Law and Administration of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. The research used an anonymous, single-choice, audiotaped, supervised survey questionnaire with closed questions.

Autorzy chcieli uzyskać odpowiedzi na pytania dotyczące postaw wobec prawa oraz poglądów politycznych studentów Wydziału Prawa i Administracji Uniwersytetu im. Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu. W badaniach posłużono się anonimowym, jednorazowym, audytoryjnym, nadzorowanym kwestionariuszem ankietowym z pytaniami zamkniętymi.

The source of this data are reports from international research centers, the Central Statistical Office, as well as national programs and strategies dealing with youth issues. The article also presents the results of a research project coordinated by the author of the article. The study ‚Determinants of young Poles’ election participation in 2019’ was carried out by the INDICATOR Marketing Research Center at the request of Konrad Adenauer Foundation by means of computer-assisted telephone interviews (so-called CATI). 1200 interviews were carried out on a nationwide group of people aged 18–30. The sample was representative due to such variables as: gender, age, voivodship, size of the city of residence. The study was carried out on September 5–23, 2019. The conducted analyzes are a valuable source of information on the political attitudes of contemporary Polish youth, and also indicate the lack of involvement of Polish youth in social and political life and the great potential of this group of voters to influence the election result.

Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie wstępnych wyników badań ankietowych, przeprowadzonych wśród litewskich studentów na temat ich opinii o i-votingu i możliwości wdrożenia tej alternatywnej metody głosowania na Litwie. Głównym celem badań były odpowiedzi m.in. na następujące pytania badawcze: Jaki stosunek do głosowania za pośrednictwem Internetu mają młodzi Litwini? Jakie zagrożenia, korzyści i wyzwania związane z potencjalnym wdrożeniem i-votingu na Litwie dostrzega badana grupa. Badania wykazały, iż respondenci uważają, że największe bariery we wprowadzeniu i-votingu na Litwie to: zagrożenie cyberprzestępczością, możliwość naruszeń zasady tajności głosowania, brak woli politycznej, konieczność zmian prawa; młodzi wyborcy chętnie korzystaliby z głosowania za pośrednictwem Internetu i mogłoby to pozytywnie wpłynąć na frekwencję wyborczą wśród tej grupy wyborców; złożoność wyzwań związanych z wdrażaniem i-votingu sprawia, że nie ma szans na jego szybkie wprowadzenie.

The aim of the article is to present the preliminary results of a survey conducted among Lithuanian students on their opinion about i-voting and the possibility of implementing this alternative voting method in Lithuania. The main aim of the research was to answer the following research questions: What is the attitude of young Lithuanians towards voting via the Internet? What threats, benefits and challenges related to the potential implementation of i-voting in Lithuania are perceived by the surveyed group. The research showed that the respondents believe that the greatest barriers to the introduction of i-voting in Lithuania are: the threat of cybercrime, the possibility of violating the principle of secret voting, the lack of political will, the need to change the law; young voters would be willing to vote via the Internet and this could have a positive impact on the turnout among this group of voters; the complexity of the challenges related to implementing i-voting means that there is no chance of its quick introduction.

Obserwacja życia politycznego we współczesnej Polsce prowadzi do wniosku, że młodzi ludzie, wraz ze swoimi problemami, pozostają na marginesie komunikacji i procesów decyzyjnych inicjowanych przez najważniejsze partie polityczne. Młody człowiek rzadziej bywa adresatem politycznych ofert, a problemy, interesy i aspiracje tej grupy ludzi rzadziej stają się osią politycznych sporów i treścią politycznych dyskursów. Młodzi obywatele dostrzegają ten brak wyraźnego zainteresowania ich sprawami i czynią z niego jeden z ważniejszych argumentów krytycznych wobec klasy politycznej. Autor prezentuje w artykule wyniki badania ankietowego zrealizowanego wśród polskich studentów w pierwszej połowie 2012 roku. W skazują one, że młode pokolenie stanowi wciąż wielką niezagospodarowaną polityczną “niszę”.

Observation of the political life in contemporary Poland leads to the conclusion that young people and their problems remain on the sidelines of communication and the decision-making processes that are initiated by the leading political parties. Young citizens are rarely the addressees of political offers, and their problems, interests, and aspirations rarely become the pivot of political disputes or the content of political discourse. Young citizens perceive the general lack of interest in their matters and point to it as one of the most important criticisms of the political class in Poland. In the article, the author presents the results of a national survey conducted among Polish students in the first half of 2012. They clearly demonstrate that the younger generation still constitutes a vast and underdeveloped political ‘niche’.
