In this paper we present the opportunities and obstacles of implementation of holistic sexuality edu- cation in the group of mentally handicapped children and adults in Slovakia. We describe the example of good practice of sexuality education in one special school on the background of survey results of educational needs of Slovak teachers in this education area (N = 95 participating schools). The results illustrate the persistent lack of understanding of sex education, but also of adequate education of teachers working with healthy and disabled children.

A  fundamental role in the life of every human being full of religious and moral education. This will include education and persons with intellectual disabilities. Here lies a great role for those who have close contact with people with disabilities, especially in the immediate family. On it rests a great responsibility for the development of the people, including the responsibility for their education. Religious and moral education of the mentally handicapped is also the duty of the Church, which seeks to create every human person, with a view to its ultimate goal. Therefore, the aim of this publication is to present the role of the family and the Church in the religious and moral education of people with intellectual disabilities.

Fundamentalną rolę w życiu każdego człowieka pełni wychowanie religijne i moralne. Wychowaniem tym objęte są także osoby z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną. Wielkie zadanie spoczywa tu na tych, którzy mają bliski kontakt z osobami niepełnosprawnymi, szczególnie na najbliższej rodzinie. Na niej spoczywa wielka odpowiedzialność za rozwój tych osób, w tym także odpowiedzialność za ich wychowanie. Wychowanie religijno-moralne osób z upośledzeniem umysłowym jest także obowiązkiem Kościoła, który dąży do kształtowania każdej osoby ludzkiej, mając na względzie jej cel ostateczny. Dlatego celem niniejszej publikacji jest ukazanie roli rodziny i Kościoła w procesie wychowania religijno-moralnego osób niepełnosprawnych intelektualnie.
