Political thought of Benjamin Disraeli and his policy as a leader of Conservative Party marks a new stage in evolution of English conservatism. In particular catastrophic vision of W. Burke and nostalgic-retrospective conservatism of Lake Poets (S.T. Coleridge, W. Wordsworth and R. Southey) were forsaken. Disraeli is the first consequent conservative who treated evolutionary change as a method of development not only legitimate by history and neglected by modernity but still possible to implement in reality. Although the project of “conservative progress” made him a critic of liberal ideology, it let him accept basic institutions of liberal society in the name of their conservative correction.

Wherever there is a man, there is place for metaphysical thinking. As metaphysical thinking is the search for the causes of reality which, as principia (arché), are its material and the development principle. This way of thinking is structurally irremovable from the human brain. It helps us understand reality, or discover the sense that designates the sphere of praxis. Losing the sense means an atrophy of action. Metaphysical thinking has also got its great importance in the theory of human rights. To accept the assumption that the needs determine the content of the human rights, is to accept the thesis that the content of the human rights is determined by the goods that are first and foremost needed by the human metaphysical structure. The identification of these dependencies, or the search for what is timeless, is the metaphysical way of thinking. Moreover, the poetic texts by Miłosz and Rymkiewicz are an effect of identifying the principals of existence. Artistic means of expression have allowed for an accurate exposure of the metaphysical problems, together with its components: the understanding of the first cause of reality, its laws and structure, its place, and the place of a man in the world.

Miejsce metafizycznego myślenia jest tam, gdzie jest człowiek. Metafizyczne myślenie polega bowiem na poszukiwaniu przyczyn rzeczywistości, które jako principia (arché) są jego tworzywem oraz zasadą rozwoju. Ten sposób myślenia jest strukturalnie nieusuwalny z ludzkiego umysłu. Pomaga zrozumieć rzeczywistość, czyli odkryć sens wyznaczający sferę praxis. Utrata sensu oznacza atrofię działania. Metafizyczne myślenie posiada też doniosłe znaczenie w teorii praw człowieka. Przyjęcie założenia, iż potrzeby determinują treść praw człowieka, oznacza akceptację tezy, iż treści praw człowieka są determinowane przez dobra, których potrzebuje wpierw metafizyczna struktura człowieka. Identyfikacja tych zależności, czyli szukanie tego, co ponadczasowe, jest metafizycznym sposobem myślenia. Również poetycki zapis Czesława Miłosza i Jarosława Marka Rymkiewicza stanowi efekt identyfikacji principiów bytu. Artystyczne środki wyrazu pozwalają na precyzyjne wyeksponowanie w literaturze problematyki metafizycznej, do której należy zaliczyć rozumienie pierwszej przyczyny rzeczywistości, jej praw i struktury oraz miejsca i roli człowieka w świecie.
