A successful transition from the stage of education to employment is determined by several factors. One of these factors is the proper strategy of searching for a job, especially selecting the most effective method of searching. The paper presents results of a survey about methods of job searching in the transitional period conducted among geography graduates. The analysis is comprised of methods of job searching planned by the graduates at the end of studies, the most efficient methods (these which allowed them to find the job) and the evolution of job searching strategies among these graduates who were still not employed after six months of graduation. The survey showed that graduates’ plans of main job searching methods were accurate, especially in the use of the internet. It has also proven that a period of a few months of unsuccessful job searching made the graduates use less active methods of job searching which very often included the help of third parties.

Pomyślne przejście z etapu edukacji do zatrudnienia jest uzależnione od wielu czynników. Jednym z nich jest właściwy dobór efektywnych metod poszukiwania pracy. W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki badań przeprowadzonych wśród absolwentów kierunku geografia, dotyczących metod poszukiwania pracy w okresie tranzycyjnym. Analiza obejmuje planowane przez absolwentów na końcu studiów metody szukania zatrudnienia, metody skuteczne, które pozwoliły im znaleźć pracę oraz ewolucję stosowanych metod wśród tych osób, które nie pracowały i nadal starały się o zatrudnienie po około pół roku od momentu zakończenia studiów. Ustalono, że plany absolwentów dotyczące głównych metod szukania pracy okazały się trafne, zwłaszcza w przypadku zamiaru wykorzystania elektronicznych zasobów sieci. Stwierdzono także, że kilkumiesięczny okres niepowodzeń skłaniał absolwentów do stosowania mniej aktywnych, często opartych na pomocy osób trzecich, dalszych metod poszukiwań pracy.
