Niniejszy artykuł ukazuje, w jaki sposób kształtowało się żydowskie podejście do Jezusa na przestrzeni wieków. Zaprezentowane zostaje stanowisko wybranych teologów żydowskich oraz świeckich przedstawicieli judaizmu. Tradycyjnym podejściem judaizmu do Jezusa Chrystusa było milczenie na Jego temat albo otwarta wrogość. Wzmianki występujące w Talmudzie oraz dzieło Toledot Jeszu pełne są obraźliwych komentarzy, ukazujących założyciela chrześcijaństwa jako: nieślubne dziecko, maga, heretyka, zwodziciela. Również dzisiaj rola i znaczenie Jezusa pozostaje tematem drażliwym dla relacji chrześcijańsko-żydowskich. Z drugiej strony, od XIX wielu jesteśmy świadkami licznych prób przywrócenia Jezusowi miejsca w tradycji religijnej judaizmu. Podejmują je rabini, teolodzy oraz świeccy myśliciele żydowscy. Uznają w Nim swojego brata, wybitnego nauczyciela, a przede wszystkim – yda wiernego tradycji i religii judaistycznej.

This article shows how the Jewish approach to Jesus was shaped over the centuries. The position of selected Jewish theologians and lay representatives of Judaism is presented. The traditional approach of Judaism to Jesus Christ was silence about him or open hostility. The references in the Talmud and the work of Toledot Yeshu are full of insulting comments showing the founder of Christianity as an illegitimate child, a magician, a heretic, a deceiver. Also today, the role and significance of Jesus remains a sensitive topic for Christian-Jewish relations. On the other hand, since the nineteenth century, we have been witnessing numerous attempts to restore a place for Jesus in the religious tradition of Judaism. They are taken by rabbis, theologians and Jewish lay thinkers. They recognize in him their brother, an outstanding teacher, and above all – a Jew faithful to tradition of Judaism.
