W artykule przedstawiono zmiany w produkcji, konsumpcji i handlu zagranicznym mięsem drobiowym w Polsce w latach 1990-2009. Polska od 1998 r. jest eksporterem netto mięsa drobiowego i saldo obrotów handlowych poprawia się.

The analysis, based on empirical data from the period of 1990-2009, presents the production, consumption and foreign trade in poultry meat and its products. Since 1998, Poland is a net exporter of poultry meat and its products. The balance of Polish trade in these products is improving.

Po akcesji do UE polski rynek drobiu został włączony do wspólnej organizacji rynku drobiarskiego Wspólnoty i stał się jego częścią. Integracja przyczyniła się z jednej strony do wzrostu cen drobiu, ale z drugiej strony wpłynęła na wzrost jego spożycia. Mięso drobiowe jest często wybierane przez konsumentów ze względu na niższą cenę, w porównaniu z wołowiną czy wieprzowiną, oraz posiadane walory odżywcze.

After the Polish accession to the EU, the Polish poultry market was incorporated into the common organization of poultry market in the Community and became a part of it. This integration has contributed to higher prices of poultry meat, but it also contributed to an increase in its consumption. Poultry meat is often chosen by consumers because of its lower price in comparison to beef or pork prices and its nutritional value.
