RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of this text is to call attention to the Catholic school mission statements. The interest in Catholic schools has been growing for several years now. During the pastfew decades, the interest in the issue of mission statements has also strongly increased. However, in Poland, empirical studies investigating the mission of the school (Christian or non‑Christian)are very rare.THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The main purpose of the study is to document the content of the mission statement of Catholic elementary schools to better understand how theydefine their goals and prioritize the values which should guide their action. The particular objectives of this study are to investigate: 1) the format of mission statements; 2) the words used at the microlevel in order to determine schools’ core values. In order to achieve these objectives, the method of document analysis was used.THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The text consists of two main parts: the first provides a theoretical background. On the basis of literature review, a conceptual framework for the study isdefined. In the second part, the methodology and the results of the study are presented.RESEARCH RESULTS: School mission statements highlight the broad range of values and goals that the Catholic schools pursue. The goals take a form of institutional goals, goals for instructors, and goals for students and parents as well. The analysis also revealed the predominance of interpersonal values in school mission statements. Interestingly, two types of school mission statements are observed: one more exclusive and the other type of mission statement that indicates the openness for students with diverse philosophical backgrounds.CONCLUSION, INNOVATION, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: School mission statements could be a source of data for comparing Catholic schools both nationwide and abroad.

The purpose of this article is to present a method of assessing mission statements. The reference mission statement was developed based on Johnson & Johnson’s “Our Credo”. In the proposed method, references to the main groups of stakeholders (customers, suppliers, competitors, employees, the environment, local community and others) are included. The values that may exist in the enterprise (business, development and social) are also included in this method. The form of the mission (personal or impersonal) was taken into account. All of these elements were awarded points. Based on the sum of the points, the rate of mission statement professionalism was calculated. The developed method was tested by evaluating 34 mission statements of food processing plants. Only one company’s mission statement had a rate of professionalism above 80%. In the case of the other enterprises, this indicator was below 60%. The most important stakeholder for companies was customers, with employees in second place. Other stakeholders were not seen as those to whom you have any obligation.

Mission statement is an element of the strategic management, the basis for the strategic development of university. Mission statement provides orientation and increases the motivation of the members of university. The results of the research prove that the mission statement of universities must be developed in an open discussion with the participation of the members of university. The most popular commitments of the mission statement are equal rights and opportunities for men and women, internationality, unity of research and teaching, quality assurance, interdisciplinarity. Analysis of the content of mission statements which were formulated during the last years shows that they propose a partnership relationship between the administration of university and its members.

The concept of strategic thinking has failed to take its due place among families. While, organizations continue to execute robust and increasingly complex strategic plans, families endure in the tradition of extemporary, ad hoc short term and uncalculated long term decisions. This paper gives a blow-by-blow account of the historical and contemporary developments that have led to body of knowledge and general presuppositions concerning family planning as widely understood today. It sustains the opinion that the concept of strategic planning needs to be advanced among families. Meanwhile, this paper opines that “family planning” as is currently regarded, needs to be reviewed in terms of naming and disciplinary content to create a fit within its due scope under healthcare.
