The paper deals with the concept of the model of the word. It concerns a pre-linguistic stage of language acquisition, descriptive content of proper names and interpretation by means of a conceptual system. The model of the world comprises all aspects of being conscious. It is a system, a unity, a background of our conscious life; perception, language, notions, concepts, are its aspects. The more we know about cognitive processes, functions and structure of the mind, the be$er we understand the nature of language; the more we know about language, the better we understand the nature of the mind. Linguistic meaning as it was shown by the studies of language and categories acquisition, has its origin in the aforementioned model. That is why linguistic meanings are not ready-made contents, ideas, semantic entities, etc. but rather systems of procedures that constitute sense of speech acts. The approach to linguistic meaning as a part of an individual conceptual system, a system of information that mirrors cognitive, linguistic and non-verbal experience of an individual, is much of help in understanding efficacy of language, forming of beliefs, convictions, and also introducing new meanings.

The authors of the article pay attention to the main elements of a natural and cultural landscape, which are the place for ritual cure or a virtual subject/locus of medical magic procedure. The most frequent spacial categories are „The Centre of the World” and „The Border”, and also lines of communication of artificial (a road) or natural (a river) character which combine all the parts of the universe structure. All of them are invariants of different parts of the indivisible model of the world. This system of the universe is especially functional in the context of symbolical-ritual (magic) methods of the Belarusian popular medicine because it gave a possibility to a person of the Tradition to restore the cosmic order (here it is health as one of its components) without leaving „the cultural field” (home, farmstead, village).

The article is devoted to one of the most famous Platonov’s story Fro. The plot is often interpreted as a “family” story, but the analysis shows that the content of the story is far beyond the framework of everyday psychology. The text contains many details that give the symbolic, timeless meanings to the depicted events. This feature is clearly manifested in the onomastics system of the story. The exotic onym “Fro” put in the title is the diminutive name of Efrosinya, perceived as an attribute of the heroine from the “profane” point of view. But within the framework of the artistic whole, onym “Fro” has the symbolic function as a “panhuman” name. “Fro” denotes the ideal “goal” of humanity, embodies the image of all-unity, symbolizes not only the future “meeting” of the heroes of the story, but also the community of people in the transformed world.

Artykuł został poświęcony jednemu z najbardziej znanych dzieł Płatonowa. Fabuła „Fro” jest często interpretowana jako opowieść czysto „rodzinna”, jednakże analiza wykazuje, że treść tej opowieści wykracza znacznie poza ramy codziennej psychologii. Tekst Płatonowa zawiera wiele szczegółów, które nadają przedstawionym wydarzeniom znaczenia symbolicznego i ponadczasowego. Jest to wyraźnie widoczna w nazewniczym systemie opowieści. Umieszczone w tytule egzotyczne deminutivum Fro (od imienia – Efrosina) jest postrzeganego z „codziennego” punktu widzenia jako atrybut konkretnej bohaterki. Jednakże w artystycznej całości wypełnia on symboliczną funkcję imienia „uniwersalnego”. Imię „Fro” oznacza bowiem idealny „cel” ludzkości, uosabia ono obraz powszechnej jedności, symbolizuje nie tylko przyszłe „spotkanie” bohaterów tej konkretnej opowieści, ale także wspólnotę ludzi w całym przemienionym świecie.
