The article discusses the 1933 monograph entitled Śląsk (Silesia), written by Gustaw Morcinek. This informative and artistically distinguished volume was part of the Wonders of Poland series. Silesia (Green, White, and Black) was described from the vantage of the experience of Polishness caught in the process of sociocultural and civilizational transformation. A succinct synthesis of Silesian history made it possible for the author to reflect on the social values of native spaces. A particular emphasis is given to the esthetically elaborate descriptions of the everyday toil of Silesian miners and steel workers. They are firmly united with their land, thus creating the region’s material culture and spiritual identity. In the final part of his narrative, Morcinek collects, systematizes, and outlines typical traits of Silesian people together with their achievements in the realm of material and spiritual culture. These issues are given particular significance in the book. Parts of the monograph were published in the regional and national press in the interwar period.

Tematyka artykułu skupia się na prezentacji wartościowej poznawczo i artystycznie monografii krajoznawczej z serii „Cuda Polski” Gustawa Morcinka Śląsk, wydanej w 1933 roku. Region ten (Śląsk Zielony, Biały i Czarny) pisarz pokazał z punktu widzenia doświadczania polskości w procesie przemian i osiągnięć społeczno-kulturowych oraz cywilizacyjnych. W syntetycznych dziejach ziemi śląskiej autor zawarł refleksje o społecznych wartościach przestrzeni narodowych. W obrazach życia codziennego współczesnego pisarzowi wyróżniają się pod względem estetycznym opisy obrazów robotniczego trudu – górników i hutników. Wraz z ziemią tworzą nierozerwalną całość, kulturę materialną i duchową człowieka. W końcowej części reportażu Morcinek zbiera, systematyzuje i dopełnia cechy typowego Ślązaka oraz jego dokonania w dziedzinie kultury duchowej i materialnej. To kwestie w książce nadrzędne.Monografia była przedrukowywana we fragmentach w regionalnej i ogólnopolskiej prasie międzywojennej.
