Aim of the study. The aim of the study is to analyze the educational offerings of chosen museums for the existing core curriculum. In addition, my intention is to attempt to answer the question, what is museum’s education and reflection on the function that museum’s education fulfills in contemporary museums and culture. Methodology. The subject of the study is the educational offer of four museums in Upper Silesia placed on their websites. I have analyzed 119 proposals of museum lessons, of which I have chosen 21 examples, which are described in this article. In my research I have compared the current core curriculum for primary, middle and secondary schools with an educational offer of chosen museums. Results. Based on the analysis of educational offer of chosen Upper Silesia museums should be stated, that they have an extensive educational offer, both temporary and permanent. Museums proposals in varying degrees correspond to the core curriculum and the goals posed by the regional education to educational institutions and centers of culture. Conclusions. Analyzed offer of chosen Upper Silesia museums shows the diversity of the educational offer that goes beyond the core curriculum. At the same time, proposals for topics corresponding to the core curriculum concern similar issues in all the surveyed museums. In attached descriptions of educational proposals posted on websites there is no information whether the lesson implements the core curriculum. A study showing in various museums, how the number of participants in educational activities is in relation to the overall turnout in museum, should be carry out. The results of such statistical surveys could prove to increasing educational functions of museums and help in the development of this field of museology, which is museum’s education.

Cel badań. Celem badań było przeanalizowanie ofert edukacyjnych wybranych muzeów pod kątem istniejącej podstawy programowej. Ponadto moim zamiarem jest próba odpowiedzi na pytanie, czym jest edukacja muzealna oraz zastanowienie się nad funkcją, jaką spełnia ona we współczesnym muzealnictwie oraz kulturze. Metodologia. Przedmiotem badań była umieszczona na stronach internetowych oferta edukacyjna czterech muzeów górnośląskich. Przeanalizowałem 119 propozycji lekcji muzealnych, z czego wybrałem 21 przykładów, które zostały opisane w tym artykule. W swoich badaniach porównałem obowiązujące podstawy programowe dla szkół podstawowych, gimnazjalnych i ponadgimnazjalnych z ofertą edukacyjną wybranych muzeów. Wyniki. Na podstawie przeprowadzonej analizy ofert edukacyjnych wybranych muzeów górnośląskich należy stwierdzić, że posiadają one rozbudowaną ofertę edukacyjną, zarówno czasową, jak i stałą. W różnym stopniu propozycje danych muzeów odpowiadają podstawie programowej oraz celom, jakie stawia przed instytucjami edukacyjnymi i placówkami kultury edukacja regionalna. Wnioski. Przebadana oferta, wybranych muzeów górnośląskich, wykazała różnorodność oferty edukacyjnej wykraczającej poza podstawę programową. Jednocześnie propozycje tematów odpowiadających podstawie programowej dotyczą podobnych zagadnień we wszystkich przebadanych muzeach. W załączonych opisach propozycji edukacyjnych zamieszczonych na stronach internetowych brak informacji czy dana lekcja realizuje podstawę programową. Należałoby przeprowadzić badania, mające wykazać jak w poszczególnych muzeach przedstawia się liczba uczestników zajęć edukacyjnych w stosunku do ogólnej frekwencji w muzeach. Wyniki takich badań statystycznych mogłyby udowodnić wzrastającą funkcję edukacyjną muzeów oraz pomóc w rozwoju tej dziedziny muzealnictwa, jaką jest edukacja muzealna.
