The main aim of this paper is to show that the labyrinth myth can still offer new possibilities of interpretation and spread diverse metaphorical dimensions before the reader even though the thesis is stated that its fading in its metaphorical function. Examining the example of the Minotaur-lay by Dürrenmatt it is shown that the modern labyrinth-variation is not solely limited to its aesthetic playfulness, but it should rather be understood as a pictorial response to the condition of the people living in the postmodern era.

Dynamic development of modern political populism in Western countries encourages to analyze this issue from many different perspectives. In addition to investigations based on political sciences, economics, and interdisciplinary comparative studies, it is valuable to relate populism to the mythological context. In this article, I assert that the return of populism indirectly results from its connection with political mythology. The particularly significant role in making the populisms attractive is played by the expressive leaders of political movements, who refer to mythological contents, including the heroic ethos, by their general attitude, presented philosophy and the creation of their biography. Thanks to such pose, they gain on reliability, political authenticity, and gather a wide social support. Presented herein analysis employed the model of Josepha Campbell’s “Hero’s Journey”, which highlights the common characteristic of contemporary populist hero and his mythological counterpart.

This article is motivated by the poems of Marcin and Otto Gerss about the Prussian queen Luise. The author of this articlec onsiders first the cult of queen Luise in Prussia, and then in Germany. He describes some elements of the myth that was born while the queen still lived. Queen Luise had a significant influence on the imagination and consciousness of both the masses and the enlightened. The untimely death of the mother of kings further intensified the belief in her exceptional meaning for the founding myth of the German Empire. The author does not evaluate the character and deeds of queen Luise. He mainly concentrates on her places of remembrance that are located in Poland. He notes that polish scientists and journali- sts have previously shown limited interest in this historical figure. However, information of the traces of her stays in different regions of Poland are currently gaining more visibility in scientifi carticles and popular online-services.
