The submitted text is an appendix to a previous article by the author (Jelínek 2022a), where he elaborated on theories of Bronze Age religion by Slovak researcher J. Paulík. The current contribution further explores the question of dating and identification of a hybrid vessel fragment, which J. Paulík considered as a “general symbol of the bronze Age religion”. In the study, we offer a more modest interpretation, i.e. that it is a potential import of a hybrid zoomorphic vessel from the area of the lower Danube, from the cultural environment of the so-called Žuto Brdo – Gârla Mare culture. We also critically re-evaluate interpretations of authors who analysed this culture’s hybrid vessel phenomenon. Finally, based on iconographic analysis and comparative Indo-European mythology, we interpret it as a female mythological being, or the hypostasis of a goddess whose domain includes life-giving moisture and fertility, but also safe passage into the afterlife.
