The article discusses the concepts of storytelling and narrative in the context of political communication and political marketing. It explains the narrative as a cognitive schema, what is the mechanism of discourse production and then proceeds to analyzing the relationship between the story, the recipient, and the political brand. In the context of political marketing storytelling has five key functions for the brand: cognitive, semiotic, emotional, axiological and social. Storytelling activates structures responsible for information processing and generates branding-related networks. Branding builds on their context and provides tools for interpreting goals and intent.

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie semantycznej struktury narracji w nauce o polityce. We współczesnej filozofii dokonał się zwrot od logiki do retoryki. Szerszym tłem tego przewrotu był kryzys realizmu poznawczego. Język uznano za część aparatu poznawczego kształtującego obraz badanych zjawisk. Postrzegane dane zmysłowe ujmowane są w kategorie i pojęcia, będące konstruktami poznającego podmiotu. Jego dziełem są też ogólne modele badanych zjawisk, zawsze reprezentowane przez słowa, pojęcia i wypowiedzi językowe. Dlatego w myśl stanowiska konstruktywizmu – badacz ciągle obraca się w świecie tekstów i interpretacji, a formy dyskursu odgrywają podstawową rolę poznawczą. W perspektywie filozofii analitycznej w centrum uwagi znajdowały się prawda jako cel aktywności poznawczej i procedury logiczne do niej prowadzące, zwłaszcza procedura wyjaśniania. Natomiast w perspektywie konstruktywizmu czy narratywizmu w centrum uwagi znajduje się tekst, narracja, dyskurs oraz środki językowe i kompozycyjne, przekonujące czytelnika do przedstawianego przez badacza obrazu zjawiska, czyli retoryka. Analiza narracji wymaga bogatego warsztatu interdyscyplinowego, gdyż składa się z trzech warstw: informacyjnej, retorycznej i teoretyczno-ideologicznej.

The aim of the article is reconstruction of the semantic structure of narrative on political science. A turnaround occurred in the contemporary philosophy of the humanities under the influence of post-modernism it shifted from logic to rhetoric. The broader background for this turnaround was the crisis of cognitive realism. Language was considered part of the cognitive apparatus shaping the picture of the examined phenomena. The data perceived by senses are grouped in categories and notions being constructs of the exploring subject. The same subject also produces general models of the examined phenomena, always represented by words, notions and linguistic utterances. This is why, in line with the constructivist standpoint, the researcher inhabits a world of texts and interpretations. And the forms of discourse play a fundamental cognitive role. From the perspective of analytic philosophy the focus of attention was the truth as the goal of cognitive activities and the logical procedures leading to the truth, especially the procedure of explaining. But constructivism or narrativism focuses on the text, the narrative, the discourse and the linguistic and literary means that make the reader believe in the picture of the phenomenon the researcher paints, that is, rhetoric. A more detailed narrative structure – thus closer to research practice – comprises three layers: informative, rhetorical and theoretical-ideological ones.

Na przykładzie prac badawczych z pogranicza nauki o polityce i prawa międzynarodowego publicznego, autorzy rozpatrują problemy, wyzwania i szanse, jakie stoją przed wspólną politologiczno-prawniczą narracją naukową. Celem artykułu jest pobudzenie dyskusji nad możliwościami politologiczno-prawniczych badań w Polsce oraz nad możliwościami sformułowania spójnej wspólnej narracji. Wywód opiera się na założeniu, zgodnie z którym integracja metod i technik badawczych, perspektyw i teorii, wiedzy politologicznej i prawniczej oraz synergia narracji, obecnych na gruncie wskazanych dyscyplin, zwiększą ich potencjał naukowy, potencjał eksplanacyjny. Wśród pięciu głównych wniosków ze swoich doświadczeń i rozważań autorzy wskazują m.in., że: politologiczno-prawnicza narracja ma szansę w pełni rozwinąć się jedynie w warunkach konsekwentnej, zinstytucjonalizowanej współpracy między przedstawicielami obu dyscyplin; politolodzy i prawnicy muszą być świadomi transgeniczności ich dyscyplin; wspólna politologiczno-prawnicza narracja musi być ugruntowana w uzasadnionym merytorycznie i metodologicznie planie badawczym, musi dotyczyć ustaleń empirycznych i/lub teoretycznych będących rezultatem wspólnych badań oraz musi być uznana za logiczną konsekwencję akceptacji komplementarności dyscyplin nauk społecznych.

By the example of research from the borderline of political science and public international law, the authors examine problems, challenges and opportunities facing common political science-legal scientific narrative. The aim of this article is to stimulate discussion on opportunities for political science-legal research in Poland, as well as on opportunities for formulating coherent common narrative. The argumentation is based on the assumption, according to which integration of research methods and techniques, perspectives and theories, political science and legal knowledge, and synergy of narratives, present in indicated disciplines, could increase their scientific potential, explanatory potential. Among five main conclusions from their research experiences and considerations, the authors claim i.a. that: political science-legal narrative has a chance to fully develop only in the conditions of consequent, institutionalized cooperation between representatives of both disciplines; political scientists and legal scholars must be aware of transgenicity of their disciplines; common political science-legal narrative must be grounded in substantively and methodologically justified research plan, it must relate to empirical and/or theoretical findings being the result of common research, and it must be recognized as logical consequence of acceptance of complementarity of social sciences’ disciplines.
