Celem artykułu jest charakterystyka wybranych materiałów stosowanych w nurcie tzw. budownictwa naturalnego. W artykule opisano takie materiały, jak ziemia, słoma czy beton konopny, przedstawiając ich genezę, obecne zastosowania oraz wybrane właściwości. Zebrane na podstawie przeglądu literatury informacje wskazują na potencjał tego typu technologii dla rozwoju architektury proekologicznej. Popularyzacja wiedzy na temat rozwiązań materiałowych innych niż stosowane w budownictwie powszechnym powinna przyczynić się do ich szerszego wdrażania w praktyce projektowej i budowlanej, wspierając zrównoważony rozwój w aspekcie ekologicznym, ekonomicznym i społecznym.

The purpose of the article is to characterize selected materials used in the so-called natural construction. The article describes materials such as earth, straw, hempcrete presenting their genesis, current applications and selected properties. Information collected on the basis of literature review indicates the potential of this type of technologies for the development of ecological architecture. Popularization of knowledge about material solutions different than commonly used in construction should contribute to their wider implementation in design and construction practice, supporting sustainable development in ecological, economic and social aspects.
