Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza ochrony przyrodniczych procesów usług środowiska (świadczeń ekosystemów, ang. ecosystem services) jako elementu kapitału naturalnego (ang. natural capital) w perspektywie tworzącej się ekonomii zrównoważonego rozwoju (ang. economics of sustainable development). Jego realizacja wymaga analizy procesów kształtowania się i założeń ekonomii zrównoważonego rozwoju, istoty kapitału naturalnego, a także teoretycznych filarów ochrony przyrodniczych procesów usług środowiska. Przyrodnicze procesy usług środowiska wymagają pogłębionych i poszerzonych badań jako element kapitału naturalnego. Dotychczasowe teorie w zakresie ekonomiczno-ekologicznym w zdecydowanej większości były budowane w oparciu o elementy zasobów i walorów środowiska przyrodniczego. Ponadto intensyfikacja międzynarodowych i krajowych badań nad kategorią usług środowiska jednoznacznie uwidacznia konieczność zwrócenia uwagi na ich ekologiczne podstawy, które stanowią przyrodnicze procesy w ekosystemach.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the protection of the natural processes of ecosystem services as part of the natural capital in the perspective of the emerging economics of sustainable development. Its implementation requires the analysis of development processes and the assumptions of economics of sustainable development, the essence of natural capital, as well as the theoretical pillars of the protection of the natural processes of ecosystem services. Natural processes of ecosystem services require in-depth research and expanded as part of the natural capital. Previous theories in the field of economic and ecological in the vast majority were built on the basis of elements of the resources and values of the natural environment. Moreover, the intensification of international and national research on the category of ecosystem services clearly emphasizes the need to pay attention to their ecological base, which are natural processes in ecosystems.
