In the article I am presenting the course of the process of learning vocabulary activated while teaching a foreign language. The paper takes the models of information processing and input processing as a starting point to describe the phases of vocabulary learning and to implicate the teaching procedures based on the insights in the natural processes of language acquisition. It provides theoretical background referring to the concept of instructed learning understood as the possibility of steering learners’ perception and processing of lexical structures by the teacher, and also examples on how to use this knowledge in the classroom.

The objective of this paper is to investigate the role of teaching phraseology in the development of lexical competence of foreign language learners. In the part of the paper we address the issue of vocabulary from the point of view of LL2 and argue that phrases are an important element of foreign language vocabulary. The second part of the paper is devoted to lexical competence. A new approach to this competence kind is proposed, in the light of which it is seen as consisting of several subcompetences. The phraseological competence elaborated on in this paper is one of them. The third part presents aims and teaching methods in working on phraseologisms in foreign language classes. We further describe some changes in teaching methods that took place over the last decades. The paper underscores the importance of teaching phrases to foreign language learners and the teacher’s role in developing phraseological competence as an important element of lexical competence.

The article presents the creation of lexical inventories based on a reflective approach to teaching programs. Consistent application of the principle of meeting the communicative needs and “real-life” language tasks results in the introduction of specialized vocabulary in the field of law and public administration to the inventories at the A2 level, both in the area of public, as well as private life. An immigrant or a refugee has active and passive contact with specialized vocabulary in discussions/conversations with civil servants, staff of educational institutions, but also those Poles with whom s/he maintains unofficial or private contact.

W artykule przedstawiono proces tworzenia inwentarzy leksykalnych w oparciu o refleksyjne podejście do programów nauczania. Przy konsekwentnym stosowaniu zasady realizacji potrzeb komunikacyjnych i realizacji zadań językowych „z życia wziętych” wprowadza się słownictwo specjalistyczne z dziedziny prawa i administracji publicznej do inwentarzy od poziomu A2, uwzględniając strefę życia publicznego, jak również prywatnego. Cudzoziemiec-imigrant czy cudzoziemiec-uchodźca ma czynny i bierny kontakt ze słownictwem specjalistycznym w rozmowach z pracownikami służby cywilnej, personelem placówek edukacyjnych, ale także z Polakami, z którymi utrzymuje kontakt o charakterze nieoficjalnym, prywatnym.

Le français « sauvage » dans les chansons d’Édith Piaf – un aperçu didactique

Édith Giovanna Gassion, known as Édith Piaf recorded more than three hundred songs. Her repertoire is as rich as her biography. Often, in the texts of Piaf’s songs, we can find some traces of her life, stories that she had told to her lyricists, who made use of them by suggesting that her songs qualified as realistic. While analysing the texts of Édith Piaf’s songs created between 1935 and 1963, we can identify the vocabulary belonging to the slang register. In the linguistic part of our article, we will try to present this lexicon. In the didactic part of our article we will look at the problem of pedagogical exploitation of the slang vocabulary contained in the songs of Édith Piaf.
