The article is a voice in favour of creating a new branch within neurolinguistics which can be described as neurosyntactics. The methodological and terminological aspects of this concept are supported by several factors such as the history of neurology, the linguistic arguments, the development of neuropsychology and neurologopedics (especially apha- siology), and the achievements of neurolinguistics as one of the applied sciences. Additionally, creating space for a new and narrow neurolinguistic speciality within the scientific discourse could produce – apart from serving the research purposes – new practical information for the medical, therapeutic, and educational fields.

The interdisciplinarity of logopedics and drawing knowledge from medicine, linguistics, psychology and pedagogy make it possible to look at syntax – a subject of interest of linguistics and logopedics – from a new, neurosyntactic and neurostructural perspective. In the traditional approach, syntax – as an element of linguistic competence, and hence, a mental unit, is a subsystem of language that allows the combination smaller components into sequences governed by particular grammar rules. The methodology of speech therapy provides practitioners with strategies thanks to which they can programme and rebuild syntactic competence. On the basis of neurostructural research, it has become possible to distinguish several areas of the brain that are responsible for processing syntax, which implies a completely new therapeutic approach in the science concerning speech disorders.

Interdyscyplinarność logopedii i czerpanie wiedzy z osiągnięć medycyny, językoznawstwa, psychologii i pedagogiki pozwala spojrzeć na składnię – przedmiot zainteresowania językoznawstwa i logopedii – z nowej, neurosyntaktycznej i neurostrukturalnej perspektywy. W ujęciu tradycyjnym składnia, jako element składowy kompetencji językowej, a więc bytu mentalnego, jest podsystemem języka pozwalającym na łączenie mniejszych elementów w ciągi, którymi rządzą określone reguły gramatyczne. Metodyka terapii logopedycznej dostarcza terapeutom strategii, za pomocą których mogą oni programować i odbudowywać kompetencję składniową. Na kanwie badań neurostrukturalnych możliwe stało się wyróżnienie niektórych obszarów mózgu odpowiedzialnych za przetwarzanie składni, co implikuje zupełnie nowe podejście terapeutyczne w nauce o zaburzeniach mowy.
