W artykule wyodrębniono i zdefiniowano lingwistykę komunikacji alternatywnej i wspomagającej – nową subdyscyplinę w ramach lingwistyki stosowanej. Jej głównym parametrem jest kompetencja lingwistyczna, a parametrem pomocniczym zjawiska niemowności i niemówienia. Udowodniono jednocześnie, że lingwistyka komunikacji alternatywnej i wspomagającej, mając hierarchiczny układ celów naukowych, prowadzi badania podstawowe, stosowane oraz wdrożeniowe. Umożliwia również diagnozę o charakterze logopedycznym osób niemownych i niemówiących. Postulaty nią rządzące zaprezentowano w ostatniej partii tekstu.

The paper identifies and defines augmentative and alternative communication, a new sub-discipline in applied linguistics whose primary parametre is linguistic competence whereas the secondary parameter is the phenomenon of speech inability and speech non-occurrence. At the same time it has been proven that linguistics of augmentative and alternative communication conducts primary, applied and implementation research having a hierarchical layout of scientific aims. It also enables to conduct a logopaedic analysis of mute and non-speaking persons. The postulates that govern it are presented in the last part of the text.

W artykule zarysowano problematykę językoznawczych i logopedycznych podstaw terapii osób niemownych i niemówiących z wykorzystaniem komunikacji alternatywnej i wspomagającej (AAC). Przyjmując metodologiczno-metodyczną perspektywę, odwołano się do teorii kompetencji lingwistycznej (językowej, komunikacyjnej i poznawczej), próbując dokonać jej adaptacji do potrzeb tworzącej się lingwistyki komunikacji alternatywnej i wspomagającej (AAC). Wyróżniono następujące parametry ogólne, służące zbudowaniu teorii lingwistyki AAC: kompetencja składniowa jako najważniejszy składnik kompetencji językowej, kompetencja fleksyjna jako gwarant gramatyczności wypowiedzi i realizacji konstrukcji składniowych, kompetencja leksykalna jako pomost między kompetencją językową, komunikacyjną a kulturową, cele i intencje nadawcy, proces rozumienia i odczytywania informacji przez uczestników aktu komunikacyjnego, skutki wypowiedzi powstające w odbiorcach, wpływy warunków zewnętrznych i kulturowych na rozumienie wypowiedzi, wiedza ogólna, kontekst, poznawanie świata, dokonywanie jego interpretacji, przekazywanie interpretacji innym, reguły kulturowe, wartości. Parametrem pomocniczym tworzonej teorii uczyniono niemowność i niemówienie.

The article outlines the linguistic and logopaedic bases for the therapy of people who lack speech and people who do not speak, with the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). From the methodological perspective, the author refers to the theory of linguistic competence (language, communicative, and cognitive) and tries to adapt it to the needs of the developing linguistics of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). The following general parameters have been distinguished for the creation of the theory of AAC linguistics: syntactic competence as the main element of language competence, flexional competence as prerequisite for proper grammar and sentence structure, lexical competence as a link between language, communicative, and cultural competences, the aims and intentions of the sender, the process of understanding and receiving information by the participants of the communicative act, the effects of the message on the receiver, the influence of the cultural and external conditions on the understanding of message, general knowledge, context, exploring and interpreting the world, conveying the interpretation to others, cultural rules and values. Non-speaking and speechlessness have been chosen as supportive parameters.

This paper is an analysis of two components of communication – code and contact. The starting point is author’s conception of speaking little and not speaking at all and the linguistics of augmentative and alternative communication. It indicates that the context for analysis includes two basic components: speaking persons, persons using natural language, and persons deprived of the capacity to speak and therefore utilizing a speech prosthesis or/ and the AAC system. Despite lack of symmetry of communication the mutual understanding is possible and is effected not only within the framework of a therapeutic discourse. It is possible due to utilizing the code potential of communication and readiness of participants of communication.

W artykule dokonano charakterystyki dwóch składników procesu porozumiewania się: kodu i kontaktu. Punktem wyjścia uczyniono autorską koncepcję niemowności i niemówienia oraz lingwistyki komunikacji alternatywnej i wspomagającej AAC. Wynika z tego, że kontekst analiz zawiera dwie podstawowe składowe: osoby mówiące, czyli posługujące się językiem naturalnym, oraz osoby pozbawione możliwości mówienia, czyli posługujące się jakąś protezą mowy i/lub systemem AAC. Pomimo braku komunikacyjnej symetrii ich wzajemne porozumienie się jest możliwe i dokonuje się nie tylko w ramach dyskursu terapeutycznego. Dzieje się tak dzięki operacyjnemu wykorzystaniu potencjału kodowego komunikacji oraz gotowości do kontaktu jej uczestników. W związku z powyższym nadrzędnym celem tekstu jest ukazanie roli kodu i kontaktu jako składowych aktu mowy w sytuacji komunikacyjnej osób niemownych i niemówiących.
