In the field of social sciences and humanities in Poland, academic research on the problem of deafblindness is undertaken sporadically. Deafblindness is regarded as a difficult subject of scientific research. The article tries to bring closer and understand how deafblindness organizes the social world of representatives of the studied environment, as well as what methods and strategies of coping with everyday life are undertaken by deafblind people. This study presents deafblindness as an experience that often excludes people suffering from this complex disability from the scope of influence of non-governmental organizations, and at the same time makes the possibility of their cooperation with social welfare institutions particularly problematic. Referring to the invisibility / institutional and organizational hiddenness of deafblind people, the article shows their complicated situation as a (in)visible and (in)audible group of people with disabilities.

Na gruncie nauk społecznych oraz humanistycznych w Polsce badania akademickie nad problemem głuchoślepoty podejmowane są sporadycznie. Głuchoślepota traktowana jest jako trudny przedmiot badań naukowych. Artykuł stara się przybliżyć i zrozumieć jak głuchoślepota organizuje świat społeczny reprezentantów badanego środowiska, a także jakie sposoby oraz strategie radzenia sobie w życiu codziennym podejmują osoby głuchoniewidome. Niniejsze opracowanie ukazuje głuchoślepotę jako doświadczenie, które niejednokrotnie wyklucza osoby dotknięte tą złożoną niepełnosprawnością z zakresu oddziaływania organizacji pozarządowych, a jednocześnie czyni szczególnie problematyczną możliwość ich współdziałania z instytucjami pomocy społecznej. Odnosząc się do niewidoczności/ukrytości instytucjonalnej i organizacyjnej osób głuchoniewidomych artykuł ukazuje ich skomplikowaną sytuację jako (nie)widocznej i (nie)słyszalnej grupy osób z niepełnosprawnością.

The Author discusses the issue of metaphors of history in Norwid's poetry, putting them in a broader context of reflections on the poetics of tropes used by the author of Vade-mecum. Starting with an analysis of the situation in the state of research into Norwid's works, in which almost nothing has been written about tropes, or their role has been underestimated, the Author puts forward the thesis that a characteristic feature of Norwid's metaphors is the peculiarly understood “invisibleness” (subtlety, discreetness). An analysis of Norwid's historical metaphors made in the article reveals one of the dimensions of invisibleness – it refers to the semantic processes occurring in the metaphor. The Author divides tropes into two groups: semantically bold expressions whose meaning is difficult to establish and is diffused in indefiniteness; and semantically “not-bold” expressions directing the cognitive process happening in the metaphor. The former group is represented by only one expression: the eccentric metaphor “niedoperz-dziejów” (“bat-of-history”) from the poem Do Walentego Pomiana Z, and the latter one by nearly 70 metaphors. The Author proves that Norwid's metaphor gives up the semantic eccentricity and creationism in favor of axiological and epistemological aims. In this way its semantic expressiveness is reduced in the text, tending towards the pole of invisibleness.
