The paper presents the problem of the occurrence of nightmares in veterans after returning from military missions. The concept of nightmares was defined in accordance with the DSM-V and ICSD-2 and their effects on sleep quality and subjective quality of life. The paper presents the latest research on the content of dreams in veterans with PTSD and with other emotional problems. There was described the relationship of soldiers dreams with traumatic events experienced during the military operations in which they took part, and specified by the researchers the most common elements and themes in veterans dreams. The paper also presents an effective therapeutic treatment of PTSD-associated nightmares in military veterans.
