Artykuł stanowi opis fragmentu historii rodzinnej, wywołanej za pomocą przedmiotów. Za punkt wyjścia służy koncepcja antropologii rzeczy, rozumianej jako zwrot ku analizie relacji, jakie są wytwarzane przez materialne byty nie-ludzkie. Tekst koncentruje się na opowieściach wywołanych za pomocą starych dokumentów, które są ich symbolicznym nośnikiem. Przedmioty są tu potraktowane jako aktywny czynnik procesu pozyskiwania danych, dzięki ich zdolności do koncentrowania wspomnień i ich przywoływania. Narracja ta stanowi przykład na poparcie tezy, że przedmioty nie są „tylko rzeczami”, ale stanowią istotny element rzeczywistości.

The article describes an excerpt from family history, evoked by objects. Description is based on the theory of anthropology of things, interpreted as a turn to analysis of relations made by non-human beings. The text focuses on stories evoked by old documents, which are a symbolic medium of these stories.
