The safety of Central European countries after the “cold war” was considered an essential part of the Transatlantic security system. The Polish and Czech accession to NATO (1999) and EU integration (2004) became the fundament of strong relations between them and the USA on the strategic level. Despite the asymmetry of military potential, for both states the cooperation with Washington was an integral element of security and defense strategy. This states that the alliance with the global leader helps to strengthen the position of regional powers (such as Poland) and small states (like the Czech Republic) in the region (Central Europe). The article provides an overview and assesses the security aspects of Central Europe in the context of relations of this region with the United States – the global leader. In addition to that, the thesis elucidates the impact that cooperation with the USA had on the transformation of the security systems of both states.

What will future warfare be like? This question is asked by servicemen, politicians, scientists and ordinary citizens. Future wars will definitely be different from those that took place in the 20th century. The size of the army will be of secondary importance on the future battlefield. What will count instead will be reconnaissance, the precision of the attack, and most of all, the effectiveness of military actions, making it possible to defeat the enemy with small losses. These goals will be achieved thanks to modern military technologies. Because of them, even the largest armies in the world have to take account of new types of weapons that instantly locate and attack the enemy, regardless of their distance and means of defence. It is obvious that in order to survive and defeat the enemy, apart from classic kinetic weapons, one needs to have other, more modern and effective support systems and weapons, which make it possible to destroy targets on land, at sea and in space. Space is becoming a modern battlefield, and it will be even more so in the future.

Jaka będzie przyszła wojna – to pytanie zadają sobie wojskowi, politycy, naukowcy i zwykli obywatele. jest powszechna zgoda, że będzie ona na pewno inna niż te, które miały miejsce w XX wieku. Na przyszłym polu walki liczebność wojska będzie miała drugoplanowe znacznie. Liczyć się będzie rozpoznanie, świadomość sytuacyjna, precyzja rażenia, a przede wszystkim skuteczność działań i pokonanie przeciwnika przy najmniejszych startach własnych. Osiągnięcie tych celów będzie możliwe dzięki nowoczesnym technologiom militarnym. Sprawią one, że nawet największe armie świata muszą się liczyć z nowym typem uzbrojenia, które błyskawicznie lokalizuje i dopada przeciwnika, bez względu na dystans i środki obrony. Zeby przeżyć i pokonać przeciwnika trzeba oprócz klasycznej broni kinetycznej mieć w zapasie inne nowocześniejsze i bardziej skuteczne systemy wsparcia i uzbrojenie umożliwiające niszczenie obiektów na lądzie, morzu i w kosmosie. Kosmos staje się areną współczesnego i perspektywicznego pola walki. Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie kierunków rozwoju nowoczesnych systemów broni, ze szczególnym zwróceniem uwagi na broń w kosmosie.

The project presented in this article, which consists in designing and launching a three-stage suborbital rocket with a 40 kg payload covers the subjects of the rapid development of a multi-stage proof-of-concept vehicle with a limited time to deploy. These finite resources and a negligible percentage of the technology available tested in-house in advance led to the implementation of chosen, well-known industrial solutions into the concept for a winning strategy. This paper presents the recent achievements and lessons learned from the production phase of the components, namely: the rocket motor, control section compartment, guidance and navigation bay, together with recent achievements and future challenges. This set of components, derived from the project, will fill the gap in the technological chain for future Polish launchers and munition. The three-stage suborbital rocket development project is divided into three phases, which will last a total of three years. The first phase is the conceptual design stage, along with laboratory tests of solutions and subsystems used in the rocket. The second phase consists in flight tests for individual stages, together with the decisive flight of a three-stage rocket made to reach the Kármán line. The final stage involves the commercialization of the developed technology and the creation of a service for carrying research loads of up to 40 kg. The project is valued at approximately USD 5 million. The project is co-financed by the National Centre for Research and Development (NCRD) as part of dedicated support for the Polish space industry.

The main aim of this article is to prove the importance of strategic aspects of Integrated Air and Missile Defence especially with focus on SBAD (Surface Based Air Defence) systems. To achieve the aim, theoretical research methods such as analysis, synthesis, comparison and generalization were applied. The results show that the strategic aspects of Integrated Air and Missile Defence should be considered as the crucial elements of the military deterrence for NATO. In addition offensive action must be consider also as a defencise posture. Thus, the formulated thesis undermines the up-to-date understanding of the problem, and therefore may contribute to further discussion on the topic of using means of defensive deterrence for NATO. Once again, this is highly important to have, develop and operate such systems nowadays. IAMD has become one of the most important pillars of the security of NATO countries. Due to the fact that this article is unclassified, it is remaining on generic statements and not dig in into details which are normally more sensitive.
