The author discusses the conservation of an iron balustrade in a staircase in the pavillion of Neue Kammern in a palace complex of Sanssouci in Potsdam. The article gives a description of an experimental technique of removing softened film-generating and corrosive layers from metal surfaces by means of a stream of water shooting out of a nozzle under pressure of ca 20 MPa. A new version of the conservation of smith’s iron decorative elements has been proposed. It consists in coating a cleaned metal surface with a protective wax product without an anticorrosive protection by means of painting techniques.

Zebrano i ustalono wejściowe i wyjściowe parametry zadania. Opracowano wstępną postać struktury sztucznej sieci neuronowej, wymaganej do wspomagania procesu.

The article deals with issues related to the possibility of using artificial neural networks (ANNs) in the process of selection of protective and decorative coatings. The input and output parameters of the task were collected and established. The initial form of the artificial neural net-work structure required to support the process was also developed.
