Recenzja książki Rafała Koschanego Zamiast interpretacji. Między doświadczeniem kinematograficznym a rozumieniem filmu (2017). Autor książki, wychodząc od klasycznego eseju Susan Sontag Against Interpretation (1964), zastanawia się nad statusem i metodologią procedur interpretacyjnych we współczesnej humanistyce, a przede wszystkim w filmoznawstwie, wobec zasadniczego dylematu nieadekwatności narzędzi językowych do opisu zjawiska z natury audiowizualnego, ulotnego, niematerialnego, jakim jest film. Dokonuje przeglądu idei i metodologii inspirowanych refleksją Barthes’a, Shustermana czy Gumbrechta. które funkcjonują „przeciw”, „obok” lub „zamiast” interpretacji. Koschany świadomie przesuwa akcent na kwestie odbioru dzieła, emocji, afektu i bezpośredniego doświadczenia kinematograficznego.

Review of Rafał Koschany's book Instead of interpretation. Between cinematographic experience and the understanding of film [Zamiast interpretacji. Między doświadczeniem kinematograficznym a rozumieniem filmu ] (2017). The author of the book, starting his analysis with the classic essay by Susan Sontag Against Interpretation (1964), reflects on the status and methodology of interpretation procedures in contemporary humanities, and above all in film studies, in the face of the fundamental dilemma of the inadequacy of language tools to describe a phenomenon of audiovisual, ephemeral, non-material nature such as film. He reviews ideas and methodologies inspired by Barthes, Shusterman or Gumbrecht. which work "against", "next to" or "instead" of interpretation. Koschany consciously shifts the focus to the reception of the work, emotions, affect and direct cinematographic experience
