Social resilience is gaining increasing interest among researchers as it helps pre-pare society for various types of crisis situations. Starting from ecological threats and natural dis-asters to economic and health threats, and up to threats occurring during armed conflict. Unfortu-nately, the concept of social resilience remains heterogeneous, and its definitions are not always consistent with the intentions of the creators of this concept. The aim of the article is to review the current definitions in the literature and to indicate how contemporary researchers define social resilience. The means to achieve this goal is to review definitions of social resilience over the past five years (2019-2023) from journals indexed in the Scopus database. This review helps to show the evolution of the concept of social resilience, which is the result of the experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic, migration problems and Russia’s armed assault on Ukraine.

Odporność społeczna (social resilience) cieszy się coraz większym zainteresowaniem badaczy, ponieważ pozwala przygotować społeczeństwo do wielu, różnego rodzaju sytuacji kryzysowych. Począwszy od zagrożeń ekologicznych i katastrof naturalnych poprzez zagrożenia ekonomiczne i zdrowotne, aż po zagrożenia występujące w trakcie konfliktu zbrojnego. Niestety pojęcie odporności społecznej (OS) wciąż pozostaje niejednorodne, a jego definicje nie zawsze są spójne z intencjami twórców koncepcji OS. Celem artykułu jest przegląd obecnych w literaturze definicji oraz wskazanie w jaki sposób współcześnie publikujący badacze definiują OS. Środkiem do realizacji jest przegląd definicji OS z ostatnich pięciu lat (2019-2023), z czasopism zindeksowanych w bazie Scopus. Przegląd ten pozwala pokazać ewolucję pojęcia OS, która jest efektem doświadczeń pandemii COVID-19, problemów migracyjnych oraz napaści zbrojnej Rosji na Ukrainę.
