Maintaining a good psychophysical condition in old age is one of the objectives of senior education. An objective difficult to achieve i. a. due to the stigma of late adulthood, the stereotypes developed around it and – importantly – also the attitude towards their own lives and changes undergone by the seniors themselves, especially women. The novel by William Wharton is an attempt to crush these stereotypes and give the images of old age an entirely different dimension.

Utrzymanie dobrej kondycji psychofizycznej w okresie starości jest jednym z celów edukacji senioralnej. Jest to jednak cel trudny do realizacji m.in. ze względu na stygmatyzację czasu późnej dorosłości, narosłe wokół niej stereotypy oraz – co istotne – również stosunek do własnego życia i zachodzących w nich zmian, ujawniany przez samych seniorów, a zwłaszcza seniorki. Powieść Williama Whartona jest próbą zburzenia owych stereotypów i nadania obrazom starości zupełnie innego wymiaru.
