In the final phase of the Council of Constance, from the middle of February to the end of April 1418, the third large Polish-Lithuanian delegation took part in the work, at the head of which stood the Metropolitan of Kiev, Gregory (Camblak/Tsamblak). The metropolitan had the charge from King Władysław Jagiełło and Grand Duke Witold (Vytautas) to convince the new pope, Martin V, to formalize a Church Union of the Orthodox dioceses with the Roman Church, by way of the subordination of the Orthodox dioceses. Camblak, however, behaved in accordance with the principles of Eastern ecclesiology and proposed that a decision be made at an Ecumenical Synod, which would be preceded by the intensive investigations of a bilateral commission. Such a conception no longer fit within the contemporary vision of Catholic exclusivity, and Camblak suffered a defeat. Nonetheless, his intervention, calling for the joining of both glories of the Church belongs to the strict canon of the most pertinent early ecumenical statements.

In this article, the author summarized the discussion on the theme emerging in the subject literature on Doruchów witchcraft trial of 1775. Except for the anonymous eyewitness account [Relacya], published in 1835 in the column of the “Przyjaciel Ludu” [Friend of the People] and a survey of 1828, there is no definite indication that such trial actually took place, and that up to fourteen women lost their lives after having been sentenced to death. The author of this article maintains that the trial is a myth, and the author of Relacya set it in Doruchów in that particular year for the reasons known only to himself. With all certainty, the only witchcraft trial confirmed by sources took place in Doruchów in 1762.

W tym artykule autor podsumował dyskusję na temat pojawiającego się w literaturze przedmiotu procesu o czary w Doruchowie w 1775 r. Oprócz anonimowej Relacyi naocznego świadka opublikowanej w 1835 r. na łamach „Przyjaciela Ludu” oraz ankiety z 1828 r., brak jest przesłanek, które jednoznacznie pozwoliłyby stwierdzić, że taki proces rzeczywiście przeprowadzono i na mocy wyroku życie straciło aż 14 kobiet. Proces ten jest – zdaniem autora – mitem, a autor Relacyi… z wiadomych tylko sobie powodów umiejscowił go w Doruchowie w tym konkretnym roku. Z całą pewnością jedyny proces o czary, potwierdzony źródłowo, przeprowadzono w Doruchowie w 1762 r.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie problemu badań na opracowa-niem krytycznym i wydaniem wraz z komentarzem dwóch pism polemicz-nych czołowych reprezentantów katolicko-prawosławnej polemiki wyzna-niowej na ziemiach ruskich I Rzeczypospolitej. Będą to dzieła: Kasjana Sa-kowicza Perspektywa (1642) oraz Piotra Mohyły Lithos (1644). Proponowa-ne badania mogą mieć istotne znaczenie w rozwoju wiedzy na temat staro-polskiej i staroruskiej kultury literackiej tworzonej zarówno przez wyznaw-ców Kościoła katolickiego, jak i przez pisarzy wywodzących się z kręgu chrześcijaństwa wschodniego – prawosławnego w I połowie w XVII wieku.

The purpose of this article is to present the research problem related with conducting a critical analysis of two polemical writings authored by the leading representatives of the Catholic-Orthodox religious polemics who lived on the Ruthenian lands of the First Republic of Poland. The works will include: Perspektywa (1642) by Kasjan Sakowicz and Lithos (1644) by Piotr Mohyła. The project, which is also aimed at later publication of the above texts provided with a commentary, will play a significant role in the devel-opment of knowledge about literary culture created both by the followers of the Catholic Church and by writers originating from the sphere of Eastern Christianity in the first half of the seventeenth century.
