EN
Young Poland is a period in which mutual influence of words and images is particularly noticeable. Those relations are clear in numerous poetical works in the area of depiction. One may find effects of “painting with words” in the texts of many poets of the period, including Kazimierza Tetmajer, Konstanty Maria Górski, Franciszek Nowicki, Maryla Wolskia, Edward Leszczyński, Tadeusza Miciński and Kazimiera Zawistowska. A poem of the latter [O maków purpurowych...] was interpreted in search for its painting value, particularly colors used for depiction and the textural view of presented themes. The sonnet contains effects (like underscoring the floral theme, an unusual combination of crimson and gold, transformation within the description of the basic theme of poppy flowers) directing the reader towards particular painting styles: secession, symbolism, expressionism.
