The article concerns nominal derivatives referring to narcotics addicts, psychoactive substan- ces, activities and conditions related to using them as well as objects used to get under their influence. Word formation models used in the jargon of narcotics addicts generally function similarly to the productive word formation models of the common language. Among the number of nominal morphological derivatives, simple derivatives - suffixal and paradigmatic - are most common. There are not many complex derivatives (composite). The phonetic manner of forming new words can be considered a typical jargon word formation procedure. This manner includes the following phenomena: metathesis (transposition of sounds), substitution (replacement of the right sound by another one) or using the first letter instead of the word.

The goal of the paper is to remind the reader about paradigmatic derivation, clipping and derivation by exchange of prefixes, three recently recognized and defined techniques of word-formation. The author points out that, thanks to more than a dozen detailed studies and three important monographs, the description of the Polish system of word-formation gained in simplicity and distinctness, thus also benefitting academic didactics. Introducing the distinction between paradigmatic derivation and clipping proved particularly advantageous. The fate of derivation by exchange of affixes, which we are now forced to reduce to derivation by exchange of prefixes, proved to be both interesting and surprising. The paper emphasizes the input of Professor Bogusław Kreja as a contributor or inspirer of every one of the research areas mentioned above. We can only regret that he never voiced his opinion about the so-called derivation by alternation, a problem which still requires a deeper analysis.

Stem morphophonology in Romanian paradigmatic derivatives: alternations and their functions Paradigmatic derivation is one of the basic word formation processes in Romanian. The aim of this paper is a characterization of its formal exponents. The work is founded on a previously realized analysis of the derivational stem in several thousands of cases of conversion and back-formation. In the analyzed stems there is mostly no morphophonological change. Alternations only occur in a particular class of feminine substantives and in some back derivatives. Those are the alternations which take place in the whole morphophonological system. Nearly each of them may be treated as constituents of compound paradigm-alternation formatives. Morfonologia tematu rumuńskich derywatów paradygmatycznych. Alternacje i ich funkcjeCelem niniejszego artykułu jest charakterystyka formalnych wykładników derywacji paradygmatycznej w języku rumuńskim, która jest dlań jednym z podstawowych procesów słowotwórczych. Praca oparta jest na wcześniej dokonanej analizie tematu słowotwórczego w kilku tysiącach przypadków konwersji i derywacji wstecznej. W temacie tym przeważnie nie dochodzi do zmian morfonologicznych. Alternacje mają miejsce tylko w określonej grupie rzeczowników żeńskich i w niektórych derywatach wstecznych. Są to alternacje wykorzystywane w całym systemie morfonologicznym. Prawie wszystkie mogą być interpretowane jako składniki złożonych formantów paradygmatyczno-alternacyjnych.

Dokonania profesor Aleksandry Cieślikowej w zakresie słowotwórstwa onomastycznego

The article presents the achievements of professor Aleksandra Cieślikowa in the field of word-formation of proper names. The most important issues concerning the creation of anthroponyms in the Old Polish era selected from monographs and scientific articles are detailed. These issues include the problems of motivation in onomastic word-formation, the onimization process and the way of describing non-derivatized words by word formation and the participation of paradigmatic derivation in the emergence of Old Polish personal names. The views of Aleksandra Cieślikowa regarding Old Polish anthroponymy contributed to the development of onomastic word-formation, an integral part of the grammar of proper names and gave methodological foundations for the description of Old Polish personal names from a synchronic perspective.

W artykule przedstawiono dokonania profesor Aleksandry Cieślikowej w zakresie słowotwórstwa nazw własnych. Na podstawie wybranych monografii i artykułów naukowych przedstawiono kolejno najważniejsze zagadnienia dotyczące kreacji antroponimów w dobie staropolskiej. Należą do nich problemy motywacji w słowotwórstwie onomastycznym, procesu onimizacji i sposobu opisu nazw niederywowanych słowotwórczo oraz udziału derywacji paradygmatycznej w powstawaniu staropolskich nazw osobowych. Poglądy A. Cieślikowej dotyczące staropolskiej antroponimii przyczyniły się do rozwoju słowotwórstwa onomastycznego, integralnej części gramatyki nazw własnych i dały podstawy metodologiczne do opisu staropolskich nazw osobowych z perspektywy synchronicznej.
