The dynamically transforming environment of the Church is seeking for a strong and effective leadership. At the parish level it is the parson who can be such a transformational leader. A trans-formational leader is a person with a clear vision which he is tending to implement, he is the one able to convince the people he leads to support his vision. The parson as a transformational leader has vision of a parish of the future as well as necessary qualifications for implementing it and for attracting the majority of parishioners. In the process of transformation the parson should use the following management styles in the parish: the missionary, integration, persuasive, promotional and democratic style.

W dynamicznie zmieniającym się otoczeniu Kościoła poszukuje się silnego i skutecznego przywództwa. Na szczeblu parafialnym takim przywódcą może być proboszcz jako przywódca transformacyjny. Przywódca transformacyjny cechuje się posiadaniem jasnej wizji, do której zmierza, oraz umiejętnością przekonywania do niej osób, którymi kieruje. Proboszcz jako przywódca transformacyjny posiada wizję parafii przyszłości, a także niezbędne kwalifikacje do wprowadzenia jej w życie oraz pociągnięcia za sobą ogółu parafian. W procesie wprowadzania zmian proboszcz powinien stosować następujące style kierowania parafią: misyjny, integracyjny, perswazyjny, promocyjny i demokratyczny.

The aim of the article is to indicate the characteristics of pastoral care priests which are required for the eff ective realization of pastoral care. At fi rst, the author discusses the characteristics of a leader in the light of the theory of management. Next, he presents the role of the characteristics of a leader in the ministry of priests. Further on, he enumerates the characteristics of pastoral care priests which are required for creating and managing the pastoral team. Finally, he indicates the characteristics necessary for building the relationship between the pastoral care priest and particular members of the pastoral team. In the conclusion he indicates that despite the fact that each successful leader of the pastoral team should possess numerous characteristics, it is diffi cult to create a complete list of all of them.

Celem artykułu jest wskazanie cech duszpasterskich prezbitera, które są potrzebne do skutecznej realizacji duszpasterstwa. Na początku autor omawia charakterystykę lidera w świetle teorii zarządzania. Następnie przedstawia znaczenie cech przywódcy w posłudze prezbitera. W dalszej części wskazuje na te cechy duszpasterskie prezbitera, które są potrzebne do stworzenia zespołu duszpasterskiego i zarządzania nim. W ostatniej części prezentuje cechy prezbitera niezbędne do budowania relacji między duszpasterzem a poszczególnymi członkami zespołu duszpasterskiego. W konkluzji wskazuje, że pomimo tego, że każdy odnoszący sukcesy lider zespołu duszpasterskiego powinien posiadać liczne cechy przywódcze, trudno jest stworzyć pełną listę obejmującą wszystkie.

The article is a dissertation on the subject of the barriers in communication in a parish community and on the ways of dealing with this problem. The first part is devoted to the communication barriers between the parson and his clergy co-workers. The next part of the article is devoted to the problems in the communication between the parson and the actively engaged lay co-workers. The final part concerns the communication barriers between the parson and the whole community of parishioners. In the communication process in the parish the parson plays the key role as its manager and the shepherd, therefore, the article is mainly devoted to the difficulties in the communication between him and his co-workers and other parishioners. The difficulties in communication between parishioners are not so meaningful in the everyday life and activity of the parish community.

Artykuł jest poświęcony barierom w komunikacji we wspólnocie parafialnej i sposobom ich przezwyciężania. W pierwszej części zostały omówione bariery komunikacyjne między proboszczem a jego duchownymi współpracownikami. Następnie przedstawione zostały problemy w komunikacji między proboszczem a aktywnie zaangażowanymi świeckimi współpracownikami. Ostatnia część została poświęcona barierom komunikacyjnym między proboszczem a ogółem parafian. W procesie komunikacji na terenie parafii podstawową rolę odgrywa proboszcz jako jej pasterz, dlatego w artykule poświęcono uwagę przede wszystkim trudnościom w komunikowaniu się przez niego ze współpracownikami i parafianami. Trudności komunikacyjne między parafianami nie mają tak dużego znaczenia w życiu i działalności wspólnoty parafialnej.
